  1. I need some advice, it kind of has me worried. Today was my very first day of clinical and when I was put under the supervision of an RN and a newer RN she was also helping out. This is the first day, so I was basically shadowing. We started watching the newer nurse pass meds. In one patient's room, she was passing meds and the other RN left and told me to stay with her. The newer nurse said if I could just open the packets she had ready and put them in the little plastic cup. I did as I was told and she then handed the patient the meds to take. I am now worried because after that happened I felt uncomfortable like I should not have opened the packets. I am worried now can I get in trouble for helping her open them?
  2. Hi everyone! I'm just getting the hang of this website, i accidentally posted this to one of my other topics. buy anyway.. I am currently enrolled at CSU, and am wondering with the core requirements of the school, and the pre professional requirements, how many credits would you recommend I take for each semester? How many general core, and how many pre req for the nursing program? I am a sophomore technically, but am basically starting over. I don't want to take so many classes like 17 credit hours just so I can finish as fast as possible. Unless any of you would recommend doing that? Its just that I tried that freshman year when I was majoring in bio, and i had to drop one of my cores. Also, does anyone know if I would have to pay out of pocket if I were to take classes in the summer?

  4. I was hoping to get some insight on my path towards becoming a nurse. I haven't had my orientation yet to meet my advisor for class registration, but I'm so stressed out about this whole process. Basically, I transferred to Chicago State University and am in the pre-professional nursing stage (I don't know what to call it, if its a major or program?). But I know I have to take the pre-reqs and other required classes at CSU in order to apply for the nursing program. The classes that I took at another university most likely will not transfer. I just finished my freshman year, but I am basically starting over again at Chicago State University because when I decided to pursue nursing, the school I attended did not allow transfers or pre professional programs into Nursing. It has me worried on whether I wasted time. So I'm wondering what do you think will be the estimated time till I can apply for nursing? Also, probably the biggest question is because I am taking the pre professional program at CSU and getting the pre reqs there, does that mean I can ONLY apply to Chicago State's nursing program? Or can I apply to other nursing programs in the city of Chicago. Also, I know nursing school is hard, there is no doubt about it. I guess to restore a little faith in myself I'm asking that as long as a student is focused, determined, studies, and gets help such as tutoring if needed, will that lead to success in nursing? I know it is a stupid question but I just really don't have anyone to turn to for help, and that is the type of student I am. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on the number of classes I should take for pre professional? I'm a fulltime student so it's 12-17 credit hours per semester. I'm hoping i'm not the only person that felt this way, cause I know I want to be a nurse, its just this whole process confuses me and I don't know anyone in a nursing program or a transfer going into nursing that could help. I'm the type of person that googles and googles to the point where I start doubting myself. If you could kindly give me some insight, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks
