Still waiting for my ATT code to come in! What should I do?
Hi, not sure if you have heard from them yet (hopefully you have) but I know it took some people in my nursing class substantially longer to receive their ATT than others. I would suggest just being patient in the meantime and study, study, study! If you live close to Sacramento, I do know of a couple classmates that went and spoke with someone in person, so it definitely can be done :) Good luck to you!

Prereqs way in advance?
I agree with the previous posters as far as not taking science classes to far in advance. A solid understanding of A&P is really an essential building block for nursing school, especially if you are going to be going to nursing school part time! That being said, I took many pre-reps ahead of time (English, math classes, chemistry, etc) so it is a good idea to start getting some of those out of the way :) Best of luck to you!

I am a second semester ADN nursing student, and I cannot get comfortable around male pt's!
Are the male patients being inappropriate, i.e. making suggestive comments/gestures, or is it simply males in general? I can understand your initial hesitation (I did not have any prior medical/healthcare experience prior to nursing school), but like the previous posters have inferred, it is really a mental choice to look at the situation from a professional stand point. For me, this was a conscious decision that I had to make, and of course I became more comfortable with time. Hang in there!

Borderline....
I found that Youtube videos have been a saving grace for me. For example, you can find Youtube videos that break down ABG's, certain diseases and their etiologies, and things like V/Q mismatch, shunting, etc. I agree with the above posters, reading every single word has proven to be ineffective (at least for me, I am in an accelerated program). I record the lectures, listen to them in the car, watch Youtube videos on the subjects that we'll be testing on that week, and skim the powerpoint slides that the instructors post. Does your program have you doing any practice NCLEX style questions? My program has us using HESI and it was really hard at first, but like mentioned above, it's getting easier.

Allison, I heard from an admissions counselor that we are to send all official transcripts and documents to nursingCAS as they become available :) Looking forward to meeting you all! It seems like other cohorts have started a Facebook group, would anyone be interested in doing this for our cohort? :)

It seems to me that they wouldn't wait for classes to finish...after all they aren't just waiting for grades to post, they would need to account for the time it would take to receive and review the official transcripts. I hope they release decisions soon too, also getting very anxious!!

Thank you! I did apply to the Sacramento ABSN cohort. As far as the number of applicants, I haven't seen/heard anything except for what has been posted here on this thread really... I think that there are usually a decent number of applicants for each campus though, or at least it appears that way from previous year postings on these forums!

I got an email from SMU on the 31st stating that my application has been found to be complete and has been passed on to the nursing for the next step in the evaluation process. I don't know how we're all going to wait until October for decisions!! Good luck to everyone and here's to hoping our nerves hold out until October!:)
