  1. Hi I didn't think this was active anymore so I sent you a few questions in a message!
  2. Thank you so much! One question I'm wondering about is how far you lived from school, if the commute was manageable. I will have an apartment in blooms field/shadyside and have to drive.
  3. Hi guys, I suggest you join the Facebook page! some of us have been talking about housing and similar questions. If you look up on Facebook Duquense Accelerated Nursing Class of 2017, you can request to be added to the group and you'll be accepted.
  4. Just something else I am thinking about. I am between here and another school. The biggest downfall for Duquesne for me is the cost. At the information session they basically gave us an estimate of $50,000. What do you guys think of this? Is it worth it? Plus I want to go on to NP soon after, so that's a lot of money in a short period of time. I'm having a really hard time finding any scholarships to apply for that are for 2nd degree bachelors like this one. Any tips? What do you guys think?
  5. I didn't send any letters no. This application was easy and straight forward in my opinion, I would just make sure to get it in soon because I believe it is rolling admissions? Also you should all join the fb group posted above!
  6. I found it once I searched the name but I searched it specifically in the "groups" category up top. Not just the regular search bar
  7. I sent you a private message!
  8. I'm not really sure how to start a fb group... Does anyone else want to do it?
  9. Yes we heard from one current student and one that graduated last year. The current girl said its a busy day but that once you get in the routine of it it gets a lot better. She seemed very happy and so did the alumni. As for classes 3 days a week, it sounds like classes are long.. Like 3 hours. And you have breaks throughout the day and move with your group. Sounds like it's all day, just like the clinical/simulation lab. I would expect that with any accelerated program though.
  10. Also, they said last year the NCLEX passing rate was 97%. Which is great.
  11. Hi everyone. I went to the accepted students event last night. It was good, there were only about 10 people there though... I'm guessing more will be at the February one. It was informative; the simulation labs are all very new and nice and it almost seems like a mini hospital you're practicing in. It sounds like we would be in classes 3 days a week then either clinical or simulation the other 2 days a week, pretty much 8-4 ish every day. They talked a lot about support services they offer and the faculty seemed very friendly. The entire second degree class is split into two groups and you move around with that group. The buildings I saw are nice and modern, the campus is very integrated into downtown Pittsburgh, and I like that it's just a 10 minute walk from some cooler parts that I like, such as Point Park and Market square. I personally want to live in an apartment where I could maybe walk to classes? Not sure how reasonable that is. If you guys want to know anything else about the meeting let me know! Also, does anyone want to make a fb page yet? I'm not even 100% decided on Duquesne but it's a good way to talk to people too.
  12. I can't find it when I search that on FB! Do you have to add people?
  13. I just got my acceptance email! I will be deciding between UB and Duquesne.
  14. Where did you hear that the nclex passing rate is 80? That worries me, I haven't heard that. I'll let you know how it goes Friday.
  15. Well I am going to the accepted student day this Friday, I will let you guys know how it is!
  16. Hi, I was also accepted and I think I'm going! I'm looking for more info too. I might be going to the accepted students thing this Friday. Looking to talk to people that were in it or are also thinking about this year!
  17. I've just been accepted for next year! Anyone currently in the program have anything to share about it? I am pretty sure I am going there.
  18. I haven't seen any posts so I decided to start one. I was just accepted to Duquesne's Second Degree BSN that starts fall of 2016. I haven't decided for sure on this school yet but was wondering who else was accepted/thinking about attending! If I am leaning towards this school I'll be looking for posts about apartments/daily class schedules/tips, etc. Just trying to see if anyone else is considering Duquesne. Thanks!
  19. Once you guys have applied, did you receive anything saying your application was complete and under review or anything? I want to know that they got EVERYTHING and that it's all together, I know I can email them. Just wondering if anyone heard anything!
  20. I've finished all my prereqs, some at my university and one at ECC in Buffalo. I'm from Buffalo so I'm OK with coming back home after graduation for nursing school...however I'd prefer to go elsewhere, just having trouble with all the crazy tuitions. Are you applying anywhere else? I am looking at a few places in Pittsburg, NYC, and in the DC area but they are just too expensive compared to UB.
  21. Hi, I will be applying, I'm going to be a senior in college this year and want to start right after. I didn't realize people would already be posting!
