Charged with abuse for causing skin tears

Yes managers are supposed to measure weekly and I can almost assure you it did t happen. And I didn't follow the order at the time because surprise surprise we didn't have the correct supplies. That happened all the time. As far as the CNA I'm told they get a cut of the fine if one is levied against the facility in Michigan. This could be the motive, I'm told this particular CNA has done this before and loves to cause drama. They did not call the police or file a report as far as I know. I haven't heard anything and it has been 5 months. I check my license from time to time and I check my mailbox daily. I have to say I have developed a nervous tick every time I get the mail. Is today the day that the charge will rear it's ugly head? I do have professional libiality insurance and it comes with license protection. I also have texts clearly stating that I would not punished. I hope the day never comes that I have to defend my license against what I feel is a bogus claim but I am ready.

Charged with abuse for causing skin tears

Hi, I'm wondering that my self. I do tend to tell it like it is. So I'm sure management doesn't like that. They did tell me that they are reporting it to state. I do have legal representation. I am leaving nothing to chance. I do feel as though this is a malicious attack against my character. But I will deal with one issue at a time.

Charged with abuse for causing skin tears

I had started to,look before hand. My biggest regret is that after I was cleared of the prior charge I didn't say no thank you. I was stuck in the thinking you have to have a job to get one.

Charged with abuse for causing skin tears

Hi, I can't tell you when the time is was measured. My facility doesn't do pictures. Haveing never seen the wound before I was unaware if I created new lesions. I was unable to document because I was sent home before I had a chance. And I feel this is coming from the DON.
  5. I worked at a SNF. I removed a bandage and it was fairly routine didn't think anything of it. I replaced the dressing with what I saw. when I removed the dressing there was a small amount of blood never having seen the wound before I didn't think much of it. As sometimes wounds can bleed. I cleaned the wound replaced the dressing and went on with my night.Later that night the administrator told me that the CNA thought I was rough in handling the dressing change. Was told that CNA reported to another nurse and then management. I was placed on leave pending investigation. Today after a five day investigation they decided it is reportable to state. Being accused of elder abuse for causing skin tears. I don't believe I did cause the skin tears. Is this something that can ruin my license? Is my job being unreasonable? I feel that the facility is out to get me. They accused me of pushing a resident when I wasn't even in the room. I have witnesses to back me up. And I was cleared of all charges.

    Lost job now what?

Yes, and at week nine they said I was improving. And they reassigned me to another unit for three days. I thought all was well. But when I asked when I worked next that is when I given the run around and then let go. I have a strong feeling they made their minds up about me and I didn't really stand a chance. That unit is very cliquey.

    Lost job now what?

Hi, thank you for your response. I was thinking that all along. The floor I was on is very cliquey. I had a feeling and still do that I ran afoul of the clique.

    Lost job now what?

I just lost my first acute care job. I'm disappointed to say the least. But I'm also trying to analyze the situation so that I can improve and do better for next time. They gave two reasons one was critical thinking and I was told that I was argumentative and defensive when corrected. I was talked to about this at 7 weeks and I adjusted or so I thought. I was even told by the manager that I was improving. When they let me go they states they two reasons again but gave no specific examples of a time after I was spoken to where I was defensive or argumentative nor did they give me an example of how I could have or should have better handled a situation. I'm really wondering how much personality fits in to all this and if I was doomed from the start.
  9. I just recently started a new job as a RN in a subacute facility and I an having some difficulties with the nurse assistants. Because I'm new I try to help out as much as I can and I think the NA are taking advantage of this, my manager also told me that I'm nice. One night due to low census I was on a unit by myself with two NA's. One NA went to lunch and the other I found out was hiding in the day room. Wondering how to be more assertive without sounding like the dreaded "B" word.

IV push failure - how I am failing

Brandazzle1 I agree and I think that not enough space in the hospitals is a problem for a number of nursing programs. I also think it can be hard for every student to get all the opportunities we need to learn about how to do IVP meds and other procedures. Along with not enough space was often not enough patients for all eight of us in my clinical group. I feel that often my instructor was really trying for us to have opportunities to do IVP meds but some days we did not get them. I feel that this fact leaves some of us with vastly different experiences.
