  1. Anyone have good advice on online FNP programs? I've been looking into quite a few including University of Cincinnati, University of Indiana, Drexel University, Chamberlin and Simmons College. I really like Simmons college because they have a team assigned to helping find clinical placement but I can't fathom spending $80,000 for 2 years of education. Anyone have any good experiences with online FNP programs?
  2. Thanks for the info! Luckily, we're a joint replacement unit so we don't get general ortho admits from the ED or OR. We're able to look in advance at the schedule and adjust our staffing to fit the week. Occasionally we get a few patients we weren't expecting but not enough to drastically change our staffing needs.
  3. Hi! I work in a specialized Orthopedic unit and because of our specialty we are looking to become a closed unit. We are currently VERY well staffed and every day 1 or 2 of us end up floating to help staff other floors in the hospital. We are all very tired of the constant floating and have been looking into becoming a closed unit for a few months now. Does anyone have experience working on closing their unit? We don't know where to begin the process. We have a few ideas on how we would like the floor to run in terms of sick calls, busy weeks with needs to additional staff, etc but do not know where to begin. Any information would be a great help!!
