  1. I gave birth to my daughter by cesction. The day I came home from the hospital (4 days after birth) I was doing laundry. It all depends on your body and how you heal. Biggest csection advise I have is get out of bed as soon as you can!
  2. I had my meeting with an adviser yesterday and I am so excited to begin my path towards RN! It has been a dream for 10 years. I am 28 (almost 29), getting married in September to the father of my amazing 2 year old daughter. Getting into SPC is so hard. I was working and almost made it - I was in my last semester of pre-reqs with Micro and Stats. Unfortunately my father, uncle, and grandfather passed away during the semester. Because I had withdrawn from Stats twice before, this was considered my third attempt and I was told I would not be considered for the SPC nursing program. Tough luck. (I really hate SPC.) So I went to Galen and talked to them. Because I have most my pre-reqs done at SPC, it lowers the program cost almost $10k. I should have done this program a long, long time ago. Anyone else starting Galen soon?
  3. I was a pre-nursing student at SPC, but unfortunately got myself eliminated from the pool of applicants due to a rule that requires you complete a course within 3 attempts (apparently a W is considered an attempt. During my third attempt, my father, uncle, and grandfather passed within 3 months, so naturally I didn't end up going to class this last semester). I was going to switch to Respiratory Therapy and did in fact apply - unfortunately, I made a typo on my application and only listed 2 observation hours instead of the required 4 and since my adviser didn't tell me about the mistake until AFTER the application window (I emailed her before the window), I can't get in this fall and have to wait a year despite having all courses completed. Yay. So I decided to look at Galen. I'm anticipating going to SPC for Micro and Sociology this fall because it is cheaper. Even after that, I'll still complete 62% of my credits at Galen so I meet the 51% rule. I go tomorrow to meet with an adviser and get more information. I've gone to private school before and unfortunately maxed out my student loans there, and my last few semesters at SPC (I have a daughter, school + daycare is costly). I am worried that because of the amount of transfer credits i have, my grants will be lowered so much that I won't be able to afford Galen. And I don't understand how they list 3 academic years to complete the program, but it only takes 24 months? I'd appreciate any info on financial aid anyone has. :)
