  1. The clinical days/times/locations are posted so that you can pick out your top 3. People are always willing to swap. If you know who's in your cohort, it's really not difficult, but you all become like a family, so it's an "everybody in the same boat situation.
  2. I know several people who manage families, and school/clinical. Clinical picks are done by a lottery though, so if you don't have a job that is willing to be flexible for the 16 months that you're in clinical, you May find yourself in a bind. Fortunately, there are a lot classmates who will be willing to switch clinical sites/times/days. At other schools, students get assigned a clinical. They have to take what they get. At Goodwin there may be around 8-10 different choices. It offers a lot of opportunities.
  3. It's a very time-intensive program. Is it hard to get good grades? Well...it's a difficult program with a lot of clinical and lecture/class demands. The only parts of the nursing program that can be done online are prereqs and the RN to BSN courses. It is demanding. It is exhausting. It it will make you cry, make you crazy, and make you wonder WHY you ever wanted to be a nurse. But, after you are blessed to be instructed by some of the most beautiful, talented, skilled instructors (with legit street-cred); you will be a competent, fantastic, compassionate RN. I think that makes it manageable.
  4. So happy for you! It's sort of a weird foreign language at first, but just breathe...we've all been there. Getting into the program is the hardest part! Congratulations!
  5. Good luck in 100! I hope you got a good clinical pick!
  6. I heard that the cut off for the summer class was 16. It sounds like you're gonna be just fine with only 5 classes as long as you do well on the TEAS. Good luck!
  7. Try not to freak out (I know, easier said than done)!! If there's a skinny envelope, it could be a dean's list announcement, more likely a bill.
  8. Waiting is the worst. I think it was about 6 weeks until my cohort got our acceptance packets. I was terrified because I went to the mailbox and I had a skinny letter from Goodwin. I ripped into it while walking up my driveway, and almost passed out when it was letter about making the dean's list. Really?! Like I give a sh!t about that? It was a long next couple of days, but then I got a big, fat envelope. That's the one you need! Good luck! I'm sure you're gonna get in, and when you do, be proud of yourself! They only accept about 20% of applicants.
  9. Awesome! Keep your fingers crossed. I'm only taking the nursing classes now. I maxed out on credits while taking my prereqs, so all my BSN requirements are fulfilled. Now I just need to finish the core classes. Try to take as many of your BSN classes as you can before you start the program, because financial aid won't pay for them while you're in the ADN portion of the program.
  10. I love the program! We're still on break, but I'm going nuts without the workload. You get so used to all the studying, class work, and clinicals that it seems abnormal to have free time. This is my second semester in the program and I have not one regret about having come to Goodwin. What sort of mixed reviews have you heard, and are they current? The nursing department is always trying to improve, so they really take our feedback to heart.
  11. I got accepted to the program with 20 points, as did my friend. Nobody else we know has been accepted, although I heard that some students were accepted with 18 points. In two semesters, Goodwin is switching from the NLN to the TEAS. No big deal, just be sure to study for the right exam. Make sure you have 7 classes (7 points), keep a GPA of at least 3.5 (3 points) and KILL it on the NLN/TEAS, whichever it is when you take it. The coursework is much more extensive than it is at community colleges, but Goodwin is pricey, and you definitely get what you pay for. The materials and the professors are excellent, but if you want to know the information, you could learn it anywhere. The Goodwin professors are there to actually help you.
