  1. Since no one was able to help me out, I just got my License in the Mail from California. I'm officially a registered Nurse in California, despite having a DUI. I just turned in what I had to turn it. Didn't have to appeal. Took 5 months for them to process though. Found a job in California so I'll be moving next month.
  2. I agree with you that a DUI does not define a person or their capabilities. I know many successful people who made mistakes and were able to over come them. What's most important is that you learned from it and use that mistake to make yourself a better person. I, too, received a DUI 2 years ago, am currently working as an RN in a different state, but trying to endorse my license in California. In the state I'm working in, they have no problem with me working with a DUI, but in California they view me as some criminal. So, I'm still waiting on California's response. lol. just hang in there
  3. Unfortunately I already submitted my application. I don't even know if I qualify for expungement because It's only been a year and a half since my DUI. Plus, it would take 120 days for it to process. So even if I did it now, and got denied the endorsement, I wouldn't have the expungement processed in time for my appeal. I called the BON the other day and said they would review my application soon. So i'll keep you guys updated -__-
  4. First of all, Congrats with the upcoming baby. When I was in nursing school, there were a handful of moms, dads, and women who were pregnant. At the time, I was single, living with my parents and just had to focus on school and a part time job. I can tell you that many, if not all, of the moms and dads made it through nursing school and graduated with me while balancing school, work, their kid(s), and significant others. And i have a lot of respect for them because it takes a lot of work. I really excited for you to start nursing school and very excited for you to become a dad. Just remember to manage your time wisely and pay attention to your wife and kids. remember that a happy wife means a happy life. haha good luck
  5. It's not considered "ok" for a nurse or anyone to take MDMA/illegal drugs on their off days.
  6. I currently have my RN license in the state of Hawaii. I got my DUI in aug 2013 (so about 1.5 years ago). I am currently trying to endorse my license to california, sent my application, references, court and police documents, proof of rehab. It's been a month since i turned everything in, I've called many times, but I still haven't got a response. My question is, is there a possibility that they will deny my license? I've read many success threads about people trying to take their nclex in california with a DUI, So I was just wondering if I'd have a better edge because I already have my RN license. Thanks
