Only 24 students a year?! That's a really limited intake at VCC considering how many students apply for nursing programs and are able to take pre-nursing courses... :/ I'll be an old lady before I get in there lol. Let's hope application reviews went quicker than expected and they send out offers this week... :yes:

When I asked an advisor about gpa cut off on the 20th, I was told they hadn't started reviewing and that it would be 4 weeks until they start sending out offers... The uncertainty is the worst part!

That's really interesting about the ESN program, I wasn't aware that BCIT did not offer that. Def gives Langara an advantage

@warfarin I'm not eligible to apply for BCIT because of their extensive prerequisites and work experience requirements// much more competitive entry, but if I had the choice, I would go there. Their program is well known as being one of the best, and I like how you are able to specialize right away. Some of my more intelligent friends have been accepted there and loved their experience.

That's is really awesome that you submitted a few other documents to show your experience and passion @civs :) I would love to do some kind of outreach nursing in the DTES. It would be great if they included other aspects besides just GPA. Did the advisor give any idea what the cut off the would be this intake? I tried to find out lol but I was told they haven't finished selection so they can't tell me blah blah. Even a rough estimate would quell my nerves. I think they are tired of seeing my name in their inbox every intake lol

I have only been on the VCC Waitlist since Oct/16. But I was told by a professor last June that the wait was well over 4 years and not the 2 years that it says on the website. :/ Of course that can fluctuate depending on people dropping off the list/ getting accepted elsewhere or changing career plans.

@vana30 what gpa did you apply to Langara with? I was told the same thing about the VCC waitlist.

That's what I thought too, jyyw. I was also told they receive about 600+ applications each intake (however, lots are missing requirements or below prerequ min, but lots are also way above, obviously)

That is really interesting to hear @CIVS. When did you speak with an advisor? I've applied in previous intakes (Last spring with a 3.4 and last fall with a 3.53) and I did not get off the waitlist... hoping 3rd times a charm?! Haha. I have repeated many courses to try to improve my GPA, so we will see. I did not apply for this last intake because I was retaking a class (tho I wish I did now knowing that the gpa dropped so much!) Langara is my first choice program so I'm really hoping I can get in. VCC's waitlist is insane!

Glad I'm not the only one! :) I wonder how many applied too... and how many of those are degree holders. Hm well here's to another month of holding our breath haha.

I'm going to give myself an anxiety attack thinking about how many people could be applying with higher gpas. Like how many at 4.3 4.0 3.9 3.8... lmao. So far like all of you! I know they said to give like 4-6 weeks to email decisions, but do you think they'll send out the degree holder and highest gpas like next weekish? And the lower ones after? I hate that these decisions take so long haha.

I looked into taking that program actually myself as I'm really passionate about mental health/ outreach. Riiiiiight before they changed the requirements the NF courses. I just need to finish the 2 pathos, but I hear the wait after that is really crazy too, so I haven't bothered. congrats again! We def need more psych nurses that's for sure :)

That is so exciting! Congrats!! My friend took that program and loved it and is now working as a psych nurse :)

Has anyone applied at other schools? I hear BCIT has a really good program
