  1. Hi, I am currently a nursing student in first semester. I was diagnosed with ms march 2013. Wanted to see who out there has MS while practicing in the nursing profession :) trying to stay positive and keep pushing to reach my goal of becoming an RN regardless of my MS!!
  2. Thank you so much for your advice. You're right, I will seek out an academic counselor again, and see if I can get a better outlook. I am leaning more towards teaching. The decision is weighing on me heavy and actually causing stress. It's difficult to walk away from such an amazing opportunity, yet I know in my heart what is best and it's probably teaching.
  3. Thank you for the feedback!
  4. Hi everyone :) I am stuck in a big situation and need to make a decision. I have been going back and forth between continuing my nursing education and enter back into my RN program, or drop out and pursue teaching. Here's a little bit about me- I have worked with children for 12 years and have loved it. I decided three years ago to study nursing, thinking it would be a great paying career in which I can make a difference and truly help others. Fast forward three years later, and I was accepted to an RN program and began 6 months ago. I have multiple sclerosis, and due to the stress, experienced a relapse, and had to drop out of the program. They have so graciously offered me the chance to come back next semester but now I'm scared. Due to my health, I'm terrified of the stress I'll encounter not just in the program, but also as a job Help please! I've been going crazy trying to make this life changing decision for myself!!
  5. Thank you for your comment and opinion. I'm leaning towards teaching, just feeling sad that this has happened and it has really made me re-evaluate nursing unfortunately.
  6. Hi everyone, I am a first semester nursing student, and I have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis for 3 years. I am in my 9th week of school, and I think I'm suffering from a relapse/exacerbation. Due to the stress, my MS has had an effect on my mobility. My legs were so heavy leaving class a week ago that I had to drag my legs in the parking lot to get to my car. My legs were too heavy to lift. I am feeling as though the stress or nursing school and possibly my future career as a nurse may not be for me. The stress level has effected me physically and it's been devastating. I left my job working with children (which was my past 12 years of work experience) to pursue nursing school. I can't help but re-evaluate my life and wonder if teaching might be my true calling. That being said, I worked SO HARD to get into nursing school and never let MS stop me. This time around, it has. Just curious to get some opinions on my situation? Thank you everyone.
  7. I applied for the 15/16 MJC nursing program with 72 points. I ended up getting an 81% on my TEAS. Retook 3 classes in order to get my score up, just hoping it's enough. Now for those of us who've applied, all we can do is sit back and pray for good news!
