  1. What about Dec 05 grads! =) I graduate at the beginning of December and hope to get an internship in the NICU. What type of things do yall think would make a person stand out in an interview for the NICU compared to others since it is a very competitive and popular field? Also, what are some good questions to ask about the unit when being interviewd? Amanda
  2. Ive been in contact with them. Im waiting to hear if they're going to offer an internship there in January. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for the reply! Amanda
  3. Congrats! I hope Im in your spot soon. I graduate in December! Good luck and let us all know how it goes!! Amanda
  4. I would not mind class time or being precepted for a long time. Actually, that is what Im hoping for. Im sure it can be demanding. I volunteered in a Family Room inside a children's hospital for over a year. It was like a big house with 20 bedrooms. Parents who had kids in the Pediatric ICU or intensive care nurseries were allowed in the room and parents with the sickest babies were able to stay the night. Ive spent long hours talking and interacting with parents under much emotional and physical stress. Now, Id like to help their infants, that is, if I can find a job! =) Thanks for the replies. Amanda
  5. in december i'll graduate from nursing school. i look online often at the surrounding hospitals for nicu jobs and hardly ever see any positions available. if there are some they require years of experience. my question is did anyone else have a hard time finding a job? i live in the houston, texas area so there are plenty of hospitals around. is that field not very demanding for new nurses? we have a job fair coming up at our school soon so hopefully i can get some direction there! thanks, amanda
