  1. Just took my lab skills competency exam. The skill was wound irrigation and dressing change. I did everything perfectly except the instructor said that when I threw a 4x4 away, part of my sterile glove just barely grazed part of another 4x4 gauze and therefore broke sterile field. So she failed me and bc it was the final competency, I fail the entire course. Several other students said they messed up during their competencies but the instructors let them slide bc we have already been checked off on these skills. I understand I messed up, but why didn't I get the special treatment they did? I have a B in the class and get A's and B's on my tests, do well in clinical and yet I fail the entire course bc of one minor mistake. Is this appealable? I've never failed ANYTHING, and I know I messed up a little but why wasn't I treated the same as the others who were able to catch a break??
