  1. Hi congrats! i am in the program now and can answer any questions you have
  2. me too!! here is the link to a Facebook group a girl from our program created for our cohort - Seton Hall MSN, Clinical Nurse Leader Program Fall 2016 https://www.facebook.com/groups/639762842867442/?fref=nf
  3. Hi! Good to hear from you, I'm almost done with my requirements too, just saved a few for the first week of August that are the yearly requirements. I went with proliability and purchased the 2 year option for $80
  4. FutrRN85 Thanks so much! I just made an appointment for my blood test to test for the immunities, rather be safe than sorry and cover all my bases. I scheduled my ppd test for the first week of August 1 at my psychical and the check for 2 days later. Not sure what the step 2 is that needs to be done 1-3 weeks after? I think I will call castle branch about the drug test bc they haven't sent me anything yet and I'm becoming impatient!
  5. Oh no I'm so sorry that happened to you! Once you read through all the clinical clearance stuff and register to castle branch, it's not that bad! It seems like a lot but really isn't. I scheduled a blood test this month for check for all my immunities and titers and August 1st I scheduled my psychical and tb 1st step test. Not sure about the drug test bc I have no info on that yet! But I know it's one of the ones that is yearly so she suggested waiting till the first week of August to do it so we don't have to do it 3 times in the two years. Let me know if you have any other questions, I feel like I could lecture on this bc I have reread it so many times and emailed so many questions!
  6. Also, what are you uploading to show as your documentation, some of those vaccines and tests I had done YEARS ago! I got a copy of my records with all my vaccines on it, should I scan that and upload that?
  7. Hi FutrRN85! I am in the process of completing the requirements listed on castlebranch, so far I have only done the ones towards the bottom since they aren't yearly requirements. I didn't know that the titers didn't have to be done the first week of August, so I can get the ball rolling on those? Also, did you get a form or anything on the drug testing? When I click on it says I should be receiving an email or message with a form included. I have received no such thing yet!
  8. You haven't received anything? What is the email that you gave them? Just last week we were told we are only being emailed via our SHU email addresses from now on, so if you didn't set that up you won't be getting the emails. But the same email they contacted you for the interview and your acceptance is the one they should have been emailing prior. Orientation is the last week of August- two days, Ill have to double check the exact dates. And clinical clearance is due August 9. What is your name? I will look to see if I see it included in all the mass emails we are getting!
  9. I'm just waiting for orientation too and getting all my tests clear for the clinical deadline!
  10. Hmm an rn-bsn around 10k wouldn't be bad, I'll need to research some! I know that the probation doesn't apply to the graduate school at SHU, it's the undergrad programs and they've been saying it for years. So I don't think we'd have to worry about that. I hope there's scholarship money bc I'd love to do this program!
  11. That's really funny your should mention Muhlenberg because I applied there also! They are waiting on me to take the TEAS test, which I am unsure if I am going to take now accepting Seton Hall. I am so torn too though! Muhlenberg would be 30k and we'd be done January 2018 and be able to sit for the Nclex soon after, almost around the same time we would be finishing the CNL program and done with a master's in the same time. Yes, about 80k more, but I have to think about the job pool for a diploma nurse, I don't know how competitive hospitals are and if they hire diploma nurses, I hear such mixed things it scares me. Then to go back for a BSN online, 1. how long would that take? another year? so now we are talking 2019, and 2. how much? Atleast 30k-40k? So no were close to 70k and still just have our BSN, and its 3 years later! So now we need to reapply to masters programs and say an NP program which is about 42 credits post BSN and say 1k a credit, so 42k plus books and whatever and say 2 years because I'm sure I'd do this part time while working. SOOO when its all said and done I think we are at the same 90k to begin with and a lot longer of a process. BUT there is a chance we could get employed with a diploma and possible a hospital would pay some remission towards a degree? You never know, it really is all a risk and I am just as confused! I literally go back and forth between Seton Hall and possibly Muhlenberg every night. For me, I feel like Seton Hall just has so much more to offer, like you said I dream of a white coat ceremony like that and being apart of the community and the fantastic clinical sites we will experience. You can't put a price tag on things like that. I really just DO NOT KNOW!
  12. Yes! We can get through it, I have faith. Did you get a date for the mandatory orientation? Just making sure I didn't miss out on an email or letter. Youtube has informative videos? I'll have to look into it, thanks. On my interview, the one woman told me to get some books to help become familiar with the basic concepts, she told me kahn academy and they also make a book called patho made incredibly easy! Sold on amazon. I am from new jersey, I'm currently a special ed teacher in princeton. I live in north brunswick though so I don't think the commute will be too bad to seton hall, especially at the times we will need to be going there. How about you? I haven't looked into scholarships yet, that is on my agenda to begin doing! I just finished up orgo chem so that was hectic, but now I'm free of classes to start focusing on all this stuff. I heard there are a lot of scholarships out there and grants too. I don't know where to begin looking, I'm bad at that stuff! Have you found anything?
  13. So you will be attending in the fall? You are the first classmate I have heard from! This is exciting. I look forward to attending and I think the role in the healthcare field will only continue to grow. Also, I heard Seton Hall is a great place to be right now because of the new medical school in conjunction with Hackensack UMC opening in 2017, so I think being a part of that for the infancy stages will be fantastic. After you commented, I looked up a ton of school certificate programs for NP and a bunch in nj, pa, and ny all require a general bsn or msn and its about 18-26 credits. In addition, some schools accept the pharm and pathphysio we will be taking. So I think knowing that, it's a great thing we can work towards later in our careers, possibly when we have a hospital as an employer that will pay towards furthering our degree!
  14. Hi! I do not know much about post-master certs or becoming an NP, CRNA afterwards, but I wouldn't think having an MSN as opposed to a BSN should be a problem, the classes for the BSN and MSN are the same plus the courses that are for the CNL, so I don't think that would be a problem. I do know the one women who interviewed me actually is a CNL and is currently in the DNP program at Seton Hall, possibly speak to her? Again, I think the classes that Seton Hall offers to fulfill the MSN and CNL portions have to be somewhat consistent with other generalist MSN programs? The program is close to 90k, which is a lot. But all the accelerated BSN programs I got into were private schools somewhere around 60-70k for a second bachelors, so for me. I figured, if I chose that route I would still want to go back for a masters which would most likely put me over 90k and most likely taking longer than 2 years. I didn't like after completely an accelerated BSN program I would want to go back AGAIN to school and reapply and all that good stuff, that is why I am picking this program, I feel it is perfect for everything I am looking for. Possibly contact some schools that have NP or DNP programs you are interested in and see what the curriculum requirements are for them? The CNL program regardless you come out with a generic MSN degree so I don't see how those classes wouldn't count towards post masters? I may be wrong! I hope I helped a little bit towards your decision making!
  15. Thank you! Good luck to you as well in all your endeavors!
