  1. So i am not sure if I will be giving you the right advice, but I totally understand your frustration and feelings of being lost. The Bachelors of Nursing programs are super competitive and hard to get in to but so is every other program! If you want to pursue nursing and have a passion for it just make sure you apply to a bunch of programs so you have options, and try to build up your work experiance. I actually have a B.S. in psychology and was accepted into about 5 master of social work programs. I actually decided that getting a Masters in social work would be a waste of money and that a career in nursing would better suite my personality. As of now I am taking all my pre reqs so I can apply to an accelerated nursing program. I don't know if you have looked in to that or not, but its a nursing program that is 12-16 months depending on which one you go to. You get the same training as a Bachelors in nursing program except it is in a shorter amount of time, so its very intense. You are also eligible to take the NCLEX when you are finished. There is a lot of things you can do with a degree in business but there is also a lot of things you can do with a degree in nursing. They are both really good options I think it just depends what type of work you think will fit your personality better. I could be wrong, but unless you wanted to be a nurse practitioner and have your own practice I don't see why it would help to have a business degree.
  2. My name is Rachel and I have a B.S. degree in psychology. I have spent all my time trying to pursue a career in social work. Recently I came to the conclusion that being a social worker would not be a good fit for me. I developed an interest in nursing and will be taking all my pre req courses this year and will apply to an accelerated nursing program for fall 2016. I am assuming that since there are very few accelerated nursing programs that they are very competitive. I have a lot of experience working in treatment facilities with children and adults. I also have been a care taker and I am cpr certified. I just really wanted some advice on what else I could do to make myself stand out. I was thinking about getting a phlebotomy certificate so I could get experience working in hospitals and clinics. Is this a good idea? and if not does anyone have any suggestions?
