  1. If you don't agree with the comments here, apply for jobs and see how it goes. I left the military 4 years ago and started working in a civilian hospital. within my first 6 months, I saw three nurses leave and heard them get put on the "no rehire" list. They all left and put on the "no rehire" list for different reasons. One was rehired too many times and left due to new marriage and husband got a job out of state, started school, etc. Another one left for medical reasons, gave her 2 weeks notice but only worked half. Because she didn't work it all, HR added her to the list. Another one left because she was pregnant with her third child, and was added to the list because even though she worked out her 2 weeks notice, this was her third time quitting. Some of the rules in the workplace are stern and employers don't care what personal things we have going on unless you find an exception to the rule. You never know- APPLY and see where it takes you. I sincerely wish you much luck
  2. I have never understood why some nurses are so tough on agency nurses. I mean after all they are helping out the unit because of staffing right? Regardless of how much money they make, they are helping. Regardless of being agency, FT, PT, she is entitled to being trained where things are located on the unit and oriented to some of the basic things. She also deserves and is entitled to breaks and being able to pump too. Sounds like her facility has the same attitude as Been there, done that. I wouldn't go back. Not every facility is going to treat you like that.
  3. I'm 44 and half way thru my BSN program. So far, I have been the oldest person in all of my classes. I start the nursing portion this fall and so excited and really hoping there are more people my age. Love to see that I'm not alone in my 40ish age and starting a new career. Good luck to you all.
  4. TwentytenRn, would you be willing to send me this guide. I started working an OB unit and I have 8 doctors and they do things a bit different. If I could nail down the basic steps, maybe it would help me sort out the preferences. I'm new to this site and not sure how to send you a pm.
