  1. Hello! I posted awhile back that I am in school for my Family Nurse Practitioner and have decided to change RN positions while I am in early in the program in order to gain more experience that will benefit my degree. Currently I have two offers- on in the emergency department and the other is as a women's health clinic (womens health has been a passion of mine). The only problem is in the women's health clinic interview, I was told that the position is mostly phone triage, although they are working so that by the end of the summer RN's will be working to the full scope of their practice and doing hands on patient care (a few bells went off in my head and she said they would be needing help with developing new protocols, etc so this could be a good doctoral project?). Alas, I am torn between which position to accept. The ED hours are not as great as the clinic, but I am worried about patient care experience while also considering the clinic may offer a good spot for a DNP project. I have 1.5 years of critical care under my belt. Do I need more for my family practice. Any and all advice welcomed!
  2. I have always been interested in Women's Health, so Im partial to wanting to choose the clinic. But I also feel that being in the ED would be a "right of passage" so to speak, or at least help me to gain some valuable and broader experience. But the clinic hours through school are tempting, I just didnt want to base a decision solely off of that!

  4. Hello! I am currently a Family Nurse Practitioner Student going on my second year of school with almost 2 years of RN experience. Right now I am working on a bone marrow transplant floor but am looking for other jobs because I do not feel this is giving me adequate experience for the FNP role. I have offers in a women's health clinic, as well as the emergency department at the hospital I work at. Does anyone know which of these would offer better experience? I am also keeping in the back of my mind, which setting would be best to implement my quality improvement doctoral project for school. Any suggestions would help greatly!
