Hi everyone. Over the past year I have been traveling. I decided because I would not be working to not renew my registration under the British Columbia Nursing Body (CRNBC) for 2015 so it has expired, I am non practicing. Also prior to that I also worked in Alberta and before I moved to BC I decided to change my status to "Associate NON practicing member" as well. I now reside in California and wish to apply to obtain my US licence. I understand I need to apply to the California Nursing Body in order start this application. Does anyone know the answer to the following two questions: 1) Do I need to hold a "ACTIVE PRACTICING STATUS" in Canada to even apply for licencing for US Board of Nursing of my choice? * IF YES is the answer, Does this mean I would have to reinstate or RENEW (PAY THE OUTRAGEOUS fee to reactiviate my status to PRACTICING first in Canada), even though I am not even working or employed in BC or Alberta because I now live in the California and have taken a year off of work to travel)? PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU ALL =)

Hi everyone! I need some help? So currently I have moved to california with my BF (who is US CITIZEN). I wish to work and get licensed to work in California. I recently took a 1 year sabatocal off work to travel and currently hold a "inactive practice status" in BRITISH COLUMBIA (CRNBC) AND ORIGINAL LICENSE FROM ALBERTA (CARNA). The process seems very complicated. I am currently in the middle of getting my visa screen/credientials verifed by CGFNS. In the meantime, I would like to get a head start on getting approval to write the NCLEX EXAM while out here in California, however this is where I am very confused in that I believe I require a US SIN (SOCIAL SECURITY) in order to even apply with CALIFORNIA BOARD OF REGISTERED NURSES? Can someone please give me some direction in terms of how to proceed? THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!
