  1. Grateful to be back practising as RN in hospital sector again. Picked up casual work at a hospital alot closer to where I live. I feel I can regain my confidence in this particular hospital. I work at another hospital casually too, i havent picked up for about one month now. With the closer hospital I am at, new grads are coming on board in a couple of weeks. I need to speak to the nurse manager to find out if i can still pick up or possible for short term contracts. Otherwise I am thinking since Aged Care is Booming to get experience there in Residential care. First I will discuss with manager.
  2. It looks like I got a job at a small community hospital on the casual pool. I havent received a formal letter, only an email from Deputy DON, asking me to fill out recruitment forms asap and send back. I had my interview last Monday. So it looks like I have a casual job back in the hospital. From what it sounds like, from the interview, as they are aware that I havent been working in the hospital sector for the past two years, they will mentor me up. That is pretty good right Patience and persistence paid off. Once my confidence and skills are up to par, I want to do Agency nursing sometime. I know I needed to go back into the hospital sector, as my confidence has been dwindling somewhat and the interview panel understood that
  3. Thank K+MGSO4, I will let you know how I go Thanks for your advice too, much appreciated
  4. Yes the manager stated I needed two years recent nursing experience in the hospital and I needed to be available for a 7 day 24/7 roster, despite that i have another job i go to, and just wanting to pick up one or two shifts to maintain nursing skills, or develop new skills. I dont get being available for a casual pool roster when its casual. This year will be my 8th year as a Registered Nurse. Questioning whats the point of being an RN when I cant get a job as an RN? Very dissapointing really. I might have to look at getting into a nursing agency??? I would like to start in Rehabilitation ward. Any advice? Thank you
  5. Thank you Butterfly Light, I just got knocked back for a public hospital on the casual pool. So disheartening
  6. Hello, last time I was working in the hospital sector was from January 2013-May2014. I work for Home Nursing on a casual basis and its great, however my hours are reducing due to some patients are going into care or passing away. I have been applying for hospital work both parttime and casual. I just received an unsuccessful letter for Day Surgery Unit and requesting feedback for it, probably hear back Monday now. I am trying not to worry, as I am trying to relax and breathe and be positive. I still feel some anxiety. I see myself as an adaptable person. Its not like I have lost my skill in some areas of nursing, as I have good bedside manner, communication. It will be my confidence, that will take time. So I am just awaiting to hear back from other applications to help me get back into the hospital sector, it cannot be this hard? I am a Registered Nurse.
  7. I am looking to getting a trial at an aged care facility for 2 days in November. I enquired with a manager and she is happy to take me on and give me a go. I think that is pretty good. I hope it works out. Aged care is booming. Is there anything Iwould need to know prior to getting acquainted with Aged Care. I work in the Aged Care Community which I do enjoy. My curiosity to work in Aged Care Facility will be another opportunity. I have noticed working in the Community my clinical skills are fading, so it would be good to pick up back in the hospital sector again too.
  8. Hi PogzRN, They advised me that the role is high pressure. So I am seeking to find out the perspective of other practice nurses about the role as practice nurse?
  9. Hello Just wanting to get some information about Practice Nurse roles? I had a job interview today and just feel so unsure about taking it. I was informed in the interview it is high pressure job role? Can anyone elaborate to clearly explain to me. I have a current job right now working in the community and feel reluctant to give it up for Practice Nurse. I am going with my intuition at the moment to not take the practice nurse position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you :)
  10. Hello, I used to be on all nurses years ago, old details unable to remember. I have been a Registered Nurse for 8 years and currently working in the Aged Care Community Nursing sector. I have been curious about picking up work in a nursing home facility on a casual basis, one day per fortnight if possible. However, I am just wanting to know about RN role in the Nursing HOme would be? I do enjoy working with Senior Citizens and would like to gain the experience in the Nursing HOme, due to our increasing aged population. I enjoy the community nursing with the aged too, very holistic too Thank you :)
