FNP in hospitalist or internist role?
Thank you all for your input. After reading the comments and doing some research. I believe that you are right. Although my program does offer acute care education, I believe it is still outpatient based. I think my bet bet to get the best of both worlds is to maybe work in the ER, doing outpatient care. I could still be in the intense setting I like, yet work within my scope of practice. Thank you!

Best Job to Have as a FNP Student
I'm an FNP student, with about 1.5 years left. I want to take on another nursing position, (previously OR) in order to better prepare me for the "real world," after school. What nursing specialties do you feel would give you the most broad educational experience to become a primary care FNP?

HELP I think I made a mistake!
OK, so here's the story.. I am in the middle of my Primary Care FNP program. When I first enrolled, I thought I was making a smart decision in choosing FNP over ACNP because I thought it broadened by horizons. The more I am learning about the job outlook for FNPs vs ACNP, the more I am realizing that I might enjoy the latter more. I have only had experience in the hospital setting and I really love the environment, pace, etc. versus working in a clinic. I'm not saying that I don't like the primary care aspect, I just really enjoy the multi-disciplinary setting and overall environment of working in a hospital. When I think of primary care, all that comes to mind is private practice, urgent care, retail, and clinic. Anyone have other settings that an FNP might consider that I didn't already mention? Thanks!

FNP in hospitalist or internist role?
Hello, I'm seeking advice and insight on FNPs that are practicing in the inpatient setting in a hospitalist group or internal medicine type role. What does the job outlook look like for NPs in this setting and if you currently practice in this role, do you enjoy it? I'm in the middle of my FNP program and exploring my options on what I want to do when I'm finished. I think that I would really enjoy this type of position, but definitely need more information. Also, what type of experience would help in landing a job in this setting. Right now, I'm an OR nurse and I don't see that being an easy transition. Thanks in advance!
