  1. I don't have time to get into a debate...thanks though...
  2. Interesting discussion, I'll throw in my .02. I'm a chiropractor, but am going back to school to get RN and then ultimately on to FNP. I read a lot in the chiropractic journals and magazines etc...and there are a lot of coaching programs popping up that teach chiropractors how to "integrate" NP's into their practices. Why? Billing. It's all about the $...nothing more. Chiropractors don't get paid poo from insurance companies...goes down every year. By adding an NP they can bill new services and better codes and get paid more... Would I ever work with a chiro as an NP? Never! Run! And I am a chiropractor...but I'm sure there are better "settings" for a NP to practice vs a chiropractic office. As far as the pseudoscience debate above...eh...I've adjusted over 60,000 spines in the past 12 years. Have helped a ton of patients. It definitely has a place in healthcare. For me personally, I'm sick of the "business" side of things. Less then 3% of the country sees a chiropractor. The public opinion of the profession is terrible...and I'm sick of going to bed each night wondering where that next new patient is coming from. It has become 95% sales / marketing...5% doctoring. Not what I went to school for...therefore I'm getting out!
  3. I don't know anything about a palm beach program. My current path is doing an accelerate BSN program through a college close to where I live in the Minneapolis area. It is 15 months...mostly online with clinicals once a month at their college. After the BSN I'm hoping to continue on towards FNP...but am undecided on which school at this point. I do still plan on working while in BSN. I have a variety of businesses that I work online and that are flexible. I don't see a ton of patients at the clinic and I'm only in the office 3 days a week...so it's kind of on auto pilot. One of my classmates from chiro school just finished the BSN at the program I'm going to and he said it's a lot of busy work, papers etc. Not overwhelmingly hard or complicated...just a lot. And he discouraged working full-time...but part-time would probably be feasible. Good luck to you.
  4. Hey everyone, I'm needing pathophysiology as a pre req to get into a nursing program. I work full time, so I need to do this online...and go at my own pace. I need to start asap...and be done by end of summer ideally... Does anyone have any good recommendations for an online patho class? Thanks!
  5. So one of my questions was, does WGU offer an online BSN program for those that have a degree in something else? In my case DC?
  6. Hi dc4now...is there a way to PM you? I have some specific questions about a few things...
  7. Thanks...yeah I looked at UM Flint...but it says courses must be within 7 years. I graduated chiro school 11 years ago...so my courses are too dated for these guys... I'm now looking into college of st. scholastica...I have a chiro classmate who is going through their program...16 months or so to BSN. And then St. Catherine has direct entry MSN...that is 26 months. I guess this leads to another question. Is there any major difference between BSN or MSN? I'm gathering from the above dialogue...it's best to get RN / BSN...and then work for a while...gather some experience before forging forward into FNP program?
  8. FNP would likely be a little more than my chiro. But again, stability would be nice...with chiro its up and down each month...and I'm sick of trying to figure out where my next new patient is coming from. The marketing and business side of it is getting old...spinal screenings at malls etc...30 chiros within a mile of me...it sucks... CRNA? The schooling for that sounds brutal...
  9. Haven't thought of it... I will definitely do some searching...but yes, looking for the most direct route... Money isn't an issue...it's convenience...need something online b/c of my current situation...
  10. Correct...they aren't a school. I think they are contracted by the schools...and help find students...so this raises the question of, how good are the schools if they need help finding students? But yes, what they told me was excelsior to get RN...and then Herzing to go from RN to FNP... I was told that Wayland Baptist lost their accreditation... So you said there are ADN to FNP programs out there? I've been searching and it seems all I can find are those that require BSN...
  11. Yeah, when I said easy...I don't mean classroom easy. I guess I should have used the word convenient since I have a wife, 2 kids with 1 on the way...a mortgage etc etc... Not looking for a get rich quick...lol...I do okay as a chiro. Like I said, what stinks is the "business side"...everybody else gets paid 1st and I get whats leftover after rent...staff...taxes...insurance etc etc...
  12. This is why I was wondering if anybody knew anything about the Mid America Learning program. It was initially created for DCs...allowing them an easier route to NP. When I last talked to them...it was initially becoming a paramedic...in 8-10 months, then it was paramedic to RN 8-10 months...and then from there it was RN to FNP which they said was 18-20 months. But, I don't think you can do the FNP if you are just an RN...I think you need to BSN...so that's where I'm confused. I haven't heard back from them on this question...
  13. I researched PA...again, most programs were 3 years...full-time...that's just not realistic at this point. Also, I like the fact that NP's can function independently... PA schools in my area are competitive as well. They all have 400-500 applicants...and accept 28-30...so I figure why bother...
  14. Wow, that's a pretty loaded question... I'm sick of the business side of chiro. It's 5% doctor....95% sales and marketing... The future is bleak. Overhead going up...reimbursement going down... On top of that, you have "The Joint" franchises opening up all over offering $19/adjustments...so it's massage envy coming into chiropractic...so the future is ugly...I believe... I'm sick of the roller coaster... I want stability...a steady paycheck...benefits...a broader scope of practice etc...
  15. Yeah, I realize there will be a clinical component which I'm fine with. I only practice 3 days a week and can easily move people around...I just want the majority of it online...so I can move through it between patients...and not have to sit in some classroom all day...
