Hello everyone I am considering joining the military as a family nurse practitioner. I have 5 years experience as a rn and one year as a np. I have always wanted to join the military and am considering the army or the Air Force. I had several questions if anyone is willing to share their experience I would really appreciate your time. 1.) how competitive is the selection process and how long does it usually take to commission from the time you submit your application 2.) what is your typical work day like? What are your hours and how many patients are you seeing per day? 3.) do you find yourself having to do a lot of work on your off days? 4.) how satisfied are you in your position? 5.) I am a single parent and realize I have to make a family care plan for deployment. Otherwise, how family friendly is the military? Are there schools on the bases and are you satisfied with them? 6.) any other advice?
