Well, everyone, I greatly appreciate all of your input and information about the schools. I never thought the Chamberlain forum would expand so much, but I am glad that it did!! I have contacted all of the schools you all suggested, as well as a few others that I found. I have decided to go with Grand Canyon University because they have everything I need and their classes are set up one at a time for 5 weeks each, which I was kind of looking for. What really got me is the advisor that I spoke with. She was the FIRST advisor that I talked to that could thoroughly help me with my VA Benefits without sending me to a different department or saying they actually weren't sure what to do. I know I did not mention VA benefits in my original post, but that is because I was under the impression that they would be well-known to ALL schools. I did not anticipate it actually being something that would alter my decision. Anyway, thanks again for everything!! You are all so awesome!! Adrienne

@athomas2244, What don't you luke about the financial aid? That will play a huge roll for me when making my decision. Thanks for your input! :)

For those of you who suggest a certain school, how were the classes set up? Were they one class at a time? Were the classes taken in 5 weeks, 8 weeks, or traditional 16 weeks? Is the coursework a lot of papers or tests? I'll take any info you have! It's always good to get info from people who have actually seen the programs in action, rather than just from advisors. :)

@featherzrn I haven't looked into excelsior. I will do that! I am completely interested in a non-profit, fully online school. I need 100%online, since I am still young and do not want to tie myself to a college campus. I just want something that is recognized as being a respectable and worthy college. I do love how WGU is set up, actually, but I have seen many reviews about the pass/fail being an issue when you go on for your Masters (if you do not stay with WGU ). I am definitely going on for my Masters, so I just want to make sure I am taking the right steps. :) Thank you, so much, for your input. I will definitely be looking at Excelsior, now, to see if maybe it will fit my needs!

Okay, so since it seems like Chamberlain may not have the best rep....which colleges do you suggest, instead? I feel lost in my research...

Hey everyone, I am thinking of applying to Chamberlain College of Nursing Online to do my RN-BSN and then on to my MSN. I have been reading reviews for this online college, however, most of them are at least 2 years old. Please give me any up-to-date pros and cons you may know of, so I can add them to the list I have created so far. Please include, in your comment, if you actually attended the school or not. Also, if there are any managers out there, do you consider a nurse with their BSN from this college to be trained well and at high standards? Thanks in advance!! :)

Calivianya, Did you already have your BSN at that time? I am wondering if my ADN is hurting my chances, even though I am going for my BSN immediately and then for my Masters!!! :S

Thank you all for your thoughts!! I have been applying to Georgia and have already been turned down a couple of times. I do not know if it is because of inexperience, having an ADN instead of a BSN, or the fact that I am still living in MI. I really don't know, but I am starting to think I am too afraid to relocate without a job set in stone first. I am almost certain that I can get a job here where I live now, and I may have to do that for now. Maybe after a year of experience I might be able to relocate and get a job much faster? I am pretty lost right now. I just really want to move to Georgia and start my life with my new fiance!! I did not think it was going to be this stressful!!

Hey everyone, I am going to be graduating in May of 2015 with my Associate Degree of Nursing from a Michigan college. I will get my RN license right away (as long as I pass the NCLEX) . :) I want to move to Georgia right away and begin my life and new career. I will also be obtaining my BSN and then Masters as soon as I can. I have spoken to the BON in Georgia, and I know how to get my license enhanced, so that will not be the problem. The problem is that I do not want to uproot my entire life and then get down there and end up not getting hired because I am a brand new nurse, without experience, from a different state. A couple of people in my class are happy with just staying here and working at the hospital we do clinicals at and some of them have already had interviews! That would definitely be the EASIEST thing for me to do... I just really don't want to stay here, and I don't think that I would be very happy at this hospital. I am under the impression that my Nursing career is supposed to be able to take me anywhere, and I would really like to go before I have children and a house to worry about! I had my heart set on this move but it seems to keep getting more and more stressful. I really need help right now. I would like to know what some of you think. I am asking experienced nurses, nurse recruiters, nurse managers, or anyone who has experienced something similar... Am I setting myself up for failure by moving before getting easy experience? What do you suggest?
