IIRC, before now the wait needed to take the OSCE after the second failed attempt was 6 months. And now there's Oxford Brookes University, which is convenient so that more people can take the OSCE. There really is no secret to passing the CBT, but if you do put in the work, you'll definitely get results. Many of my colleagues here at work underestimated the CBT both before and during the actual exams saying that it is quite easy, which is why they failed during their first try. Even I didn't pass until my second try so I know how disheartening it feels. As for OSCE, I presume most NHS Trusts help their recruits with how to tackle it. If not, I'm sure your Filipino kuya's and ate's would be very eager to help you guys with it.

NMC normally don't inform candidates that they are in the assessment queue already. You'd have to go out of your way and contact (phone/email) them for them to tell you. They should put in the number and email address that they regularly use, regardless of whether those are home, work, or personal details. The point of putting those in is so NMC can easily contact them in case they have any questions regarding the candidates and their credentials. In short, they should write in contact details that give NMC the best chance of being able to reach them at any given time.

This is true. You cannot just put the word "present" when NMC is asking for a concrete date. If in doubt, put in the date you'll send out the form. With regards to sending out an email or by post, just send the email since it doesn't cost anything. What you have to consider when sending by post/courier is that it may be fast, but it doesn't mean NMC will put your mail ahead of their assessment queue. So it could take NMC about the same time to read your letter and consider it as sending the email and getting a response. At least emailing them is free. If unsure, ask NMC.

Adult nursing is pretty much the only nursing career most people applying could qualify for. Could you tell us why you are confused about choosing the type of exam? Do you meet the qualifications for children's, mental health, or learning disability nursing by any chance?

Exchange rates are quite low right now (GBP to PHP) so it might save you a few hundred pesos while the post-Brexit economy hasn't recovered yet--if it ever does.

Familiarizing yourself with the NEWS system is very important in preparation for the OSCE. Not so much for the CBT.

No they don't provide free copies, but you should be able to borrow a copy from any Trust library fairly easily. Once you get a list of text references from Northampton, the library stockpiles many of those useful texts as well.

I think you'll find a lot of people here have taken and passed the CBT already. If you can decode NMC's blueprint then go ahead, but if not then don't bother. The Royal Marsden manual is a good place to start and it also has a copy of the NMC code in one of its appendix, something that you should familiarize yourself with if you hope to pass the test. I also found the adult safeguarding module from the SCIE website quite useful.

In case there are misconceptions about this, the issuance of CoS is not dependent on whether you have your decision letter or not (and the NMC in general). It's totally up to the hospital that is going to be employing you and how fast they can get these certificates from the home office to you or via your agency. IIRC, the MAC has placed (reluctantly, I might add) the nursing profession into the shortage occupation list for the next 3 years, with some limitations. I see. Several of my colleagues here have experience working in the Middle East and NMC didn't decline their application, so I don't see why your case would be an exception. However, a few of them still haven't cleared the identity check even though they already passed the OSCE. This seems to be unique only to those with experience in the ME, and one of my friends went to London several times already to clear the issue up with NMC directly.

I personally don't know of anyone who was rejected by NMC. I feel there's a hidden question within your question. What do you mean exactly by "rejected by NMC"? I'm not sure what to say, but I think NMC gives everyone a fair chance to complete the registration process unless something is significantly amiss regarding the candidate's eligibility.

I don't think NMC will mind these arrangement but try asking them just the same so you know what's allowed and what isn't. Does PRC even allow you to courier 2 registration verification envelopes in one package? If you're applying for adult nursing, that form is usually not needed.

I don't remember very well, lol. If it's uploaded to the NMC portal only then the 3-month validity applies to the date it reflects on your account.

IIRC the police clearance is sent directly to the NMC and they're the ones who'll upload it. I think it simply means that the clearance should not have been more than 3 months old by the time NMC receives and uploads it on your portal. This is why it's usually advised to get your police clearance last since it has the shortest validity period of all the documents candidates need to procure.

If that's what NMC said then I guess you can trust you're already on the assessment phase. If you've already read back in this topic then you probably already saw that many people who experienced that issue resolved it without having to do much.

Well, it's true I'm working as a nurse now here in the UK. I feel kinda bad not going back here after everything, so it's fine. I'm always happy to answer questions regarding the process. As for applying for a job in the NHS (or any UK hospital) without an agency, I really don't know how that goes. HR does post job openings the last time I came to visit, but I never asked them how to go about it. I can tell you with confidence that there really is a shortage of nurses, so I figure it wouldn't be that hard to find a nursing job here. Alhough it might be easier with an agency since NHS trusts prefer to hand out sponsorships and employ by the dozens. Downside is it might be slower since agencies tend to wait for a certain number of candidates before they deploy. As for the OSCE, you're not really asked to do tasks you don't already know how to do. I'm just gonna say I was a bundle of nerves during my exam, LOL. Just glad that's over now.
