  1. What warrants a call home?

Good morning, all! I'm not completely new to allnurses, but new to this group. I'm a newly licensed LVN working as a nurse in an elementary school. I've figured out quickly that there is a huge learning curve as far as practicing nursing in a school...
  2. What warrants a call home?

    Now wouldn't that be wonderful?!
  3. What warrants a call home?

Ha! Now I've been having teachers come to my office to tell me stories of this mom going off on various people, including them... Just solidifies that it's her, not me :)
  4. What warrants a call home?

Yes, LOVE the kids. Well, most of them. Just yesterday, Ankle Scrape Girl gave me the dirtiest look a child has ever given me! Her mom must be feeding her hatred... But thank goodness for my district nurse! She flat out told the mom that if she doesn...
  5. What warrants a call home?

Wow. All these precious flowers and the parents that think they can do no wrong *eyeroll*
  6. What warrants a call home?

Definitely bee stings I'm starting to realize that... I had another mother get angry with me over the phone because her son had a fever and she needed to come get him. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
  7. What warrants a call home?

And yes, I have one lady that I call for everything. She's a thorn in the school's side, and is rude to just about everyone, so we call her if any of her kids make their way to my office. SnowyJ, that's my criteria for calling í ½í¸Š
  8. What warrants a call home?

Yep, that's how the district nurse and I felt about it. Really, my only "mistake" here was not calling the mom. However, either way the outcome would have been the same. Of course I always give care to those who trickle into my office at the end of ...
  9. What warrants a call home?

This sounds vaguely familiar to my story! I suppose the one thing I could have done differently was call the mom- although the mom was already here seeing as school was already out for the day :\ But instead, I opted to send a non-bleeding, bandage...
  10. What warrants a call home?

Thank you all for your replies and advice. Everything is incredibly appreciated on my end! So this lady just won't stop. She is now accusing my district nurse and me of "interrogating" her daughter when the DN asked to look at her stitches. And she'...
  11. What warrants a call home?

Thank you for your words of wisdom! :)
  12. What warrants a call home?

But judging from the picture that was shoved in my face, it just looked like a normal, healing scrape. It looked scabbed, and didn't look like any stitched cuts I'd seen during my ER rotation in school.
  13. What warrants a call home?

We're not sure... Our district nurse called the girl into my office that day to look at her ankle, but she said "my mom said not to take off the bandaid." The DN tried to persuade her to let her take a peek, but she wouldn't budge. Either way, what ...
  14. What warrants a call home?

Thanks for your reply. That's about what my district nurse said as well. I guess I have to focus on the 99.99% of parents who are kind and grateful for my care.
  15. What warrants a call home?

    Oof, sorry so long
  16. My first time, NCLEX Q's and false sense of security?

I've heard of the test stopping at some pretty obscure numbers, so any number wouldn't surprise me. I did not have any calculations on my exam, either. Congrats on graduating and taking the NCLEX!!! Good luck with your results :)
  17. Pearson Vue Trick

And not to mention that you (general you) should wait until 24 hours after the conclusion of your exam to try the trick as the tests are scored twice for quality assurance. Congrats, Mikey! :)
  18. Pearson Vue Trick

    Woohoo! Congrats!!!!
  19. Pearson Vue Trick

You wouldn't be the first one! I was certain I'd failed in 85 questions. I think it's normal to feel as if you bombed it My pass results arrived exactly 3 weeks later! Being in CA, the PVT was the only thing that brought some comfort. No quick resul...
  20. Pearson Vue Trick

Good luck!! I believe the worst situation to be in when you are an impatient person is a PN test-taker in CA. No results for 3-4 weeks! Crossing my fingers for you!
  21. Pearson Vue Trick

Ok, well there you go- they did it immediately after their exams. And now I can say I have heard of this happening . Although they sort of broke the cardinal rule of waiting until 24 hours after testing, so their PVT experience is moot.
  22. Pearson Vue Trick

Care to elaborate? The system works a certain way, and although I'm sure there *could* be a glitch, it's highly unlikely.
  23. Pearson Vue Trick

I have yet to read about anyone getting the good popup and failing, but I have read about people getting the bad popup (read: $200 poorer) prior to 24 hours and passing.
  24. Taking my nclex for the 3rd time in 4 weeks... HELP!

I used Hurst and Saunders to study for my exam (PN), and passed. I only studied for about 2 weeks prior. That said, it really depends on what your weaknesses are. Did you look over your performance reports from your last two exams? That way you can ...
  25. NCLEX-PN MAY 2015

Thanks, shesanurse! The only thing you *need* to bring is your government issued ID. You don't have to bring your ATT or receipt. I'd dress comfortably with layers so you can adjust if the testing room is hot or freezing. And you may want to bring a ...
