Hi all I need some advice, I have been accepted to both the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia program and MUSC's AFN program. I cannot decided which one to go to. I have already paid the $2000 matriculation fee to Raleigh since I had not heard from MUSC. Pro's/Con's of attending Raleigh: 1. In-state tuition (but I've lived in the area for almost 8yrs now and am ready for a change) 2. 3-yr DNP program (good and bad, I would be totally fine if it was still a masters program) 3. Clinical experiences: will have to travel, but students and faculty have stated their students get more than even the recommended amount of clinical experiences (ie. Regional anesthesia; PEDS cases, hearts etc) 4. Good comoradity between classmates; seniors seem really supportive of new students 5. CRNA I shadowed was a graduate of their program and an AMAZING CRNA 6. I know more about the program because I'm in the area MUSC: 1. Location = Charleston (would LOVE to live there 2. MSN program (only two years of school before I start practice, I really have no interest in a DNP) 3. Con = Out-of-state tuition 4. Pro = 50 yr old program, high ranking 5. Clinical=will travel all over SC, but again faculty states I will meet recommended amount of clinical experiences. 6. Smaller class size, newer facilities 7. I know less about their program because I'm not in the area So any input would be great about where to go; especially from grads or students of both programs in regards to the clinical experiences and finding a job after. Essentially, if they felt prepared enough to function independently and how many CVL's, peripheral nerve blocks, spinals/epidurals, etc. that they got to do because I know this is a big factor in finding a job after and I would like to relocate to NYC after school. Losing sleep because I can't decide, torn between the two ! Thank you for your advice.
