  1. You're welcome you can just say yes sir only if you want. And yes for the interview dress how a business person would dress. I'm a girl so I wore a blazer dress pants wore my hair in a ponytail. Just dress like you but professional and clean cut. My interview was only like 30 minutes. It wasn't long at all. He will tell you what to expect in the program, if you have questions to ask. How you'll be wearing your uniform etc. We just had a conversation. We were just talking about what patients really need in a nurse and he'll ask how ambitious are you to complete this program. It's not bad heck as an ice breaker he pranked me lol. The secretarv said he's in a bad mood and when I went in we both pranked the Secretary just to make you feel comfortable he doesn't bite. He wants you to get in and to come to him for help if you need him during the time you're there. And yeah some vocabulary isn't there on the test but it was fair. Grammar to me was easy almost insulting lol like I'm not THAT stupid lol. Reading was fair very short passages like one to two passages. The book though is legit you study the book you'll be good. And yes you will get your results immediately. When you finish a subject it will tell you on the computer. Let's say you're done with grammar it'll load your score right there. But to get the cumulative score you go to the Secretary and they will tell you what you got right there on the same day.
  2. The president is a nice guy very nice guy. He'll just ask you who you are as a person what's your favorite food etc just to know you. He'll ask what made you want to become a nurse. He's a laid back guy hell make you feel comfortable. Be yourself. If you never had experience in the hospital or medical field if he asks you be honest. He's not looking for someone who's born into wanting to be a nurse or who eats and sleeps nursing. Be polite always say yes sir or yes Doctor since he is a doctor. He'll be impressed if you shake his hand towards the end and beginning of the interview. He's not I repeat NOT a strict guy he's funny but he'll see you have discipline and respect if you say yes sir and thank you doctor. I did that. If you have ever volunteered in anything like you got a certificate or something bring it. Doesn't have to be medical. Helping kids soup kitchens anything make a portfolio and bring it. If you don't don't stress!! It's ok. Dress clean. I suggest a blazer and pants. And come on time. My interview was at 11 I came literally an hr early only cause I take three buses there. It'll be ok. When studying for the HESI study on your weak subject first! On the test you get to choose what subject you want to do first. Do the weakest one first and get it out of the way cause your strongest ones will be a breeze. Keep doing your study techniques you'll be fine. It's easy as hell! Math was my wea and I was surprised I did good. And no I work in retail part time. I only volunteered in hospitals and summer camps
  3. I'm doing may. I take only two classes then which is anatomy 1 and fundamentals of Nursing or something. I was going to do August but my parents thought that's far but may is fine. It's only two classes. And don't be nervous they'll accept you. What did you get on the hesi test? Right now I'm getting all my medical forms done and stuff. But you'll be ok I know they'll accept you. But most likely you'll get a call.
  4. Hey did you get accepted? How's the hesi test
  5. Eva 87 why are you so pessimistic? Saint Paul's been in business for years and every time i come across your comment you have something negative to say. Just focus on the now get your associates get your license and then continue your journey. If this school is bothering you why apply if you're afraid this will happen and you don't want to pay so much and the school might get shut down etc. There are four year colleges that will accept saint Paul's credits just call them up and ask and get all the negative thoughts out your mind. Focus on getting through this nursing program while calling up future schools that you want to go to and ask. You'll be ok stop worrying or you're mind will just fill you up with all kinds of negative scenarios.
  6. Hey and yes I did get accepted. I got a call from them. I did the interview in February I got a call from them in the end of March
  7. Hey I'm applying for SPSON is the school nln accredited or just accredited in general. I'm confused and want to get this straight. I'm so nervous that I might not get a job after this! Someone please try to clear this up for me. I took my test and passed it but has anyone graduated from there. I went to the information session and the president said they affiliate with LIJ should we graduate. What is this school like? Has anyone have a positive thing to say about it? What is the experience like.
  8. Do you know any 4 year college schools that will accept SPSON when you finish the accosiates degree?
  9. Saint Paul's School of Nursing is NLN accredited National League for Nursing - Membership
  10. I'm still waiting on my letter
  11. I just did my interview with the president and it went well. I showed him a portfolio of my past volunteer work in hospitals and he was very impressed. I passed the hesi with an 85. The book is very helpful. You need an 80 in each subject. Tip if you have experiences volunteering or have a portfolio with awards associated with the medical field that'll be a big bonus because the president of the campus (the interviewer) will know you have experience. If not it's ok just be yourself. I'm waiting on my acceptance letter which hopefully won't take long
  12. You're lucky I had to pass with an 80. Use the book! It helped me pass! For math STUDY the conversions, add and subtract fractions, ratios and word problems. That was my mistake I sucked at it and I got an 82 when it could be been an 87 hell maybe even a 90. For grammar, on my test it was baby easy. The book really trains your brain and it was perfect. Just read it do the practice questions for grammar you'll be fine. Reading honestly was a make or break. The passages on my test were short and insanely easy. They'll ask you "what can you infer from this passage" I suck at inferences so I study that more. If you're weak in main ideas or conclusions study that. If you're a slow reader take your time, you have four hours on the test plus the passages are only one or two paragraphs. The book was great on vocabulary. The book covers what words you need to know however I strongly suggest you use quizlet.com or other practice books with other vocabulary words. Anatomy I did not have to take but I heard the book covers I wouldn't say little bits but not as much information. If you've taken the class recently and have notes on it take additional time to study that as well as the book. Here are some websites that helped me. I passed it the first time with an 85 score. HESI Mathematics Practice Test - ProProfs Quiz 404 - Test-Guide.com HESI A2 Practice Test - Free HESI Exam Practice Questions Make sure you study an hour every day! Focus on the subjects you are weak in. Go to bed early! Get there at least 30 minutes before so you can do last minute studying. Eat a well breakfast. The test is 4 hours. You are allowed to take a break, and bring a snack but not near the computer. There is no order to take the test. You can choose whatever subject you want to do first. So strategize your time wisely. You will get your results automatically after you finish each subject. Good luck!
  13. I used that book and its very good! Vocabulary was spot on the grammar though helped a lot. I couldn't believe how long it's been since I took grammar but on the test it was baby level.
  14. Yes right after I took the test I was sent to the front desk so they can give me my overall cumulative score. Then a representative scheduled me for an interview a week after the test. Dress formally. I strongly suggest wearing a blazer, dress pants hair up (ponytail or a bun). Because wear in a skirt like those dress skirts you could but with pants you don't have to worry about sitting and pulling it down etc. When you are scheduled for your interview you will talk to the president of the campus. He's very nice and funny. He gave me an ice breaker by pranking me and the workers there lol. Now I'm just waiting for an acceptance letter... Plus if English is your strongest you have nothing to worry about. The more focused you were in a weak subject your strongest ones will be a breeze. You'll do fine.
  15. Automatically after you're done with each subject
  16. I took my test it was easy! Passed it with an 85 only cause math screwed me over
  17. Plus you get your results automatically after you finish each subject
  18. Hello and yes I too am applying for the nursing program there. I took my HESI exam on Feb 12 2015 a couple weeks before you. It wasn't as hard as people make it out to be. My weakest subject was math and I got an 82 on it only because I suck at word problems. You only take the reading grammar vocabulary and math. The best part about it is the reading grammar and vocabulary are all counted as one and will be averaged as one. For example if you got a 70 in vocabulary an 86 in reading and an 80 in grammar it will all average as a 78 and you have to retake it. I was told you need an 80 or higher in each but not in this case. It just needs to be averaged as an 80. Math is separate but you must score an 80 or higher. It was a lot of ratios and fractions. If you're weak in a certain area I strongly suggest you brush up on it. Again in math I sucked at word problems so that 82 could've been a freaking 87. You have four hours to complete it and you can choose what subject you want to start with first. So if you're weak in vocabulary or math or reading or grammar Start that first. Use a strategy so you can savor the hours instead of wasting it doing a subject that you're extremely good in. But overall it is NOT difficult
  19. Hey I took my HESI exam today at 10:30 this morning and math is my weakest subject however there are strategies you can do. My weak subject is word problems. If you know for a fact you're not good in it study those. My test had a good handful of them. They weren't hard but I hate trying to find the relevant sentences. Do not worry. In ny other nursing program in community college I failed the pax test three times and a majority of the time was because of math but do not get discouraged. Don't be afraid to ask someone for help and Always always concentrate on the areas you are weak in. Don't spend your time on areas you already know.
  20. Thank you so much for this helpful advice! I looked at all the websites you mentioned. I took the test this morning and I passed with an 85. I have an interview next week with the nursing school president. From the time I bought the book which was in January I have been lookin back and forth on your tips and it was the most informative helpful information ever! The book is spot on!
