  1. You probably already know this but the Vancouver Craigslist is a good go to source for housing & furniture & stuff like that: craigslist: vancouver, BC jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
  2. I'm kind of in the same boat but maybe rowing to a different shore? I've been accepted to Langara and have been weighing the pros and cons of both programs ... I am actually leaning towards Langara. UBC is obviously the "quicker" route but it seems like you get so much more hands on experience, time to study, ability to keep work part time, and the opportunity to work as ESN through the college programs. UBC seems like it would be a good choice if your long term plan is to continue to a Masters and research? What is the big draw to UBC for you?
  3. The first one was the toughest! I was so surprised at how nervous I was! The interviewers and facilitators were great though, hey?! Glad it's over!
  4. 9:40! Maybe we'll unknowingly pass by each other! I'll be the one relieved it's over Good luck tomorrow!
  5. Hi Kfabb! No, haven't heard anything yet but I think I read somewhere that Kwantlen would only begin their offers of admission mid May? Which would actually coincide with UBC's offers. (How did your interview with UBC go? I've got mine tomorrow.)
  6. I think that information was only given out to applicants who weren't invited for interviews.
  7. Lily_Ann - pardon my snooping but I was curious about your experience applying last year so I looked at your past allnurses posts and noticed you'd also been accepted to Langara. With 8 months of the UBC program under your belt, are you happy with your choice to attend UBC? I've been accepted to Langara but have an upcoming interview with UBC. While part of me is thrilled with the shorter duration of UBC's program - I'm nervous about how intense the program must be? Do you feel like you are getting enough time to process everything and gain adequate hands on skills? Have you got much of a life outside school? How are you finding it? thank you for any wisdom "from the other side" you'd be willing to share!
  8. Langara gives you only two weeks to decide and I think I would only hear back from KPU or UBC at the end of March/ early April? From everyone I've spoken to- Langara's a great program and with the 36 month format it seems like there would more time to work as an ESN, probably more chance to have a balanced life during the program and you finish with lots of hands on experience ... I've accepted Langara's offer. I honestly don't know what to do if I happen to get accepted at KPU or UBC - or how that would even work-
  9. Thank you BBB! I just got my acceptance email this afternoon! So excited!
  10. Hi Kfabb, Yes, I attended an info session back in November. The hybrid format seems appealing for the flexibility and because as an older student I find I learn best on my own terms vs. sitting in a classroom/lecture scenario. I also like that after the first month at the Langley campus it seems like you are able to live pretty much anywhere in the lower mainland and complete your community hours locally. I'm not sure that UBC is that much more affordable - except that you will be finished sooner? I do wish KPU's tuition was less of course! I've also applied to Langara's program - at 36 months it is much longer than UBC or KPU but I think you'd have more opportunity to work as an ESN. I've heard from a few sources that Langara students have more hands on skills and are more prepared right after graduation and that UBC students are more groomed for leadership roles. I've also heard that after 6 months of on the job training, there isn't much difference between the skill levels of graduates.
  11. llsgll - with your BA, have you also applied to other accelerated programs or is Langara your first choice?
  12. 430 applications to review?!! HOLY COW!
  13. Hi all! I've applied for this year's intake too. (I also applied for KPU's post bacc program and Langara- didn't want to put all my applications in one basket! ) My BA is in Anthropology/Sociology with a certificate in Sustainable Community Economic Development. I also studied fine arts at Emily Carr for a couple of years and have a certificate in Arts & Entertainment Management (arts administration) from Capilano University. Professionally I've worked in admin, special events and as a Caregiver (paraplegic, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's, elderly) for over 5 years. I don't know if anyone else has discovered it but this thread from the 2014 UBC applicants shed a lot of light on the application/ interview/acceptance process and timeline : https://allnurses.com/canada-nursing-programs/ubc-september-2014-883518.html Good luck everyone!
  14. Hi all! Last I heard (yesterday, Feb 16) was "Hopefully we will have more information later this week ... Thank you for your patience!" I wonder though - if you don't get accepted now, there will probably be a waitlist?
  15. Hi kfabb! No, nothing yet! My status says "under review". I was wondering if anyone had heard yet because I thought acceptance was based on a "first applied first accepted basis"? I'm in the second class of my A&P course too - but I'm a bit of a special case. One of KPU's stipulations is that your degree must have been completed within the last 6 years and I graduated in 2001. They told me that they would consider my application AFTER everyone else. (~March) Is the KPU program your first choice? Do you know anyone who has been part of it? I'm undecided whether the "hybrid format" would be a pro or a con! Are you applying to UBC and other programs too? (I've applied to Langara and UBC.) Good luck to you!
