Phlebotomy certification or pharmacy tech?
In your opinion, which is more useful to have on the side? I am about to finish my first semester in Nursing school and I know my scholarship will run out soon (I applied a semester late) so I want to be certified in something related to my career and also to have something as a back up for when I have to work. I have the opportunity to become certified in either phlebotomy or as a pharmacy technician. I am torn between what to do... I can take phlebotomy classes over my whole summer break at a local community college (about $600 out of pocket total for including the scrubs, exam and course fees, book). Whereas, the pharmacy technician exam or PCTB can be taken for $130. My friend and I could study for this exam on our own (she has the book and I have a friend who is also majoring in pre-pharmacy who can help us) I confirmed with the pre-pharmacy advisor at my university and they said that I do not have to be enrolled into formal classes in order to take the exam, but I have to take this exam and pass regardless if I want to be certified. I just don't know what would be more useful for Nursing... I think phlebotomy would be fun and I think it is interesting. I know that finding a vein would be difficult; I also do not mind working with blood. Next semester, (in the fall) I will be taking Nursing Pharmacology so I thought this would also help me become familiar with the drugs.. etc. I am leaning more towards becoming pharmacy certified because it is obviously cheaper and it will boost me a little for school.l.. I am aware that you have to become re-certified every two years and I do not mind. I just want some opinions on what you would do in my situation or what would you reccomend? Thank you :)

What helps you study? New student
It has been the first week of Nursing school and I am not sure if I should be taking notes while I read because it is a lot of stuff! My patho teacher provided at least a lecture outline but I am not sure if what she wants us to know because it seems too vague... I used to copy on paper my professor's powerpoints but I do not want to get into that habit because it takes up too much time. I just want to know what worked for most of you and the different ways to study or if anyone would just recommend flashcards? Would that be too much?

Nursing Interview questions (class project)
Hello everyone! I am a Pre-Nursing student attending New Mexico State University and I am doing this project as a part of a classroom exercise (not for publication). I hope many of you that reply to this post will allow me to use this information. I will NOT use your real name if you ask me not to, otherwise the username I will see, I will write in my paper. Its ONLY 10 questions! Thank you all so much for your time 1. How long have you been a nurse? 2. Where did you get your qualifications from? 3. How much education was required to be a Nurse? 4. What is the typical work day like? 5. What do you like about being a nurse? 6. What do you dislike about being a nurse? 7. What would you change about nursing? 8. What personal qualities/abilities are important for doing well in Nursing? 9. What impresses you in a resume from someone who is applying for Nursing? 10. What advice would you have for someone like me considering this field?
