  1. Hi everyone, I recently went in for an interview at a well known facility where they serve LTC residents. I'm assuming I did well on the interview because I was hired on the spot. They offered me a charge nurse position even though I mentioned I did not have any experience working in LTC let alone being a charge nurse. I've worked mostly in outpatient clinics. This is a wonderful company with generous benefits package but that means nothing compared to the safety and care of my patients. I believe in my self but at the same time I do not wanna make a fatal mistake on the job. Am I putting my self in a bad situation? What does a charge nurse commonly do?
  2. Hi, I'm new to home health. I'm starting a case next week with a patient needs trache and G-Tube care. This case is full time and they are paying me $19 per hour. I wanna know as much as I can about the industry if I'm gonna be working in it. How do home health agencies get paid per patient? is it per hour of skilled nursing care that is provided? I'm curious. Thank You.
  3. I just sometimes fear that maybe I might misspell something in my charting or what it I forget to chart something. I think I might be overreacting.
  4. Any tips on how to protect your nursing license?
  5. Hi, I'm a new LVN, I was offered a job at a clinic but I'm kinda nervous because I've never worked at a clinic before. Everything is electronic charting. How do you protect your license when working at a clinic? What tips can you give me for those who have worked at a clinic? Thank you for your help.
  6. I was hired through an agency to work as a nurse, giving flu shots during the flu season at a very well known hospital. Hospital administration is so eager for me to give as many flu shots as I can to patients. Does the hospital really care about patients not getting the flu or is there something else more?
  7. Hi, I recently got offered a job at a SNF. I wanna take it but I'm nervous, I've never worked at an SNF. I hear negatives thing about working in SNFS, I dont wanna lose my license if I make a mistake. Can anyone tell me what a typical day in a nursing home is like? I was offered a 3-11pm shift.
  8. I'm an LVN and I completed an iv/blood withdrawal course on April 2, 2016 from a state approved center. I keep checking the states website to see if my certificate is updated and so far it is not. It's already June 2016. How long does it take for your info to be updated in the boards website? I live and practice in CA.
  9. Hi, I recently got offered a job at a nursing home, I did really good in nursing school and passed my NCLEX on my first try but I have no experience working in a SNF. Some of my friends who barley passed nursing school and passed their NCLEX on their 5th try are working in nursing homes without a problem, I'm not saying I'm better than them. I'm really nervous because I think It might be overwhelming or I might accidentally injure a patient. I think, I'm just thinking too much I just don't know what to expect. Can anyone tell me what a typical day working in a nursing home is like? What advice can you give me as a newbie?
