UIC GEP Applicants 2015
So I was looking into checking your admissions status online and UIC's graduate school page says "Applications referred to the department will be noted as such. You will also be able to see if your application has been referred to the Graduate College for additional review." Next to "Decision" my application says "Referred to College for Review." Does that mean the College of Nursing or the Graduate College? I know once you're approved by the College of Nursing they make a recommendation to the Graduate College for your admission, which almost all of the time goes through. What do y'all's say?

That's what I heard, too, mid-April.

I think the link on the signup page is just for the AGMS program, which I believe is included in the GEP curriculum (please correct me if I'm wrong) but also offered as a stand-alone program for RN's. I could get the sound on that one, but not on the GEP presentation sent in the body of the email. On another note- it's so amazing to hear from other people who are applying. You all sound really friendly! It makes me feel better to think of going into an interview with folks like you, who are hopeful and a bit nervous just like me :-) Good luck everyone!!!

Maybe if someone has their interview on Friday they can clue us in on how they structured it? I read once on a forum about a group interview in which each applicant had to write his or her answer down before reading it aloud and another where it was sort of round-robin, everyone got different questions.

So I called the admissions coordinator to ask about flying in versus Skyping (I live in D.C.) and I also asked him about the format of the interviews- they are indeed interviewing 4 of us at once. Which I guess probably makes it easier on us, so that's good :-) I wonder what they can really learn about a person when you divide 30 minutes by 4 people though, haha. Maybe the interviews aren't as important to them as the rest of our applications?

That makes sense! I couldn't get the sound either

Since there are 165ish interview slots and they extended the application deadline, I wonder if they only received that many applications this year for Chicago. Or else maybe they didn't extend interviews to a small number of people who didn't meet the requirements?

I bet you're right about the single room for 4 people and 2 listed rooms for 8 meaning group interviews, MME20. I agree with all of you, that seems pretty short for a group! Maybe it will be easier? haha who knows. Let us know how it goes soni7! Good luck!! Don't be too worried, I'm sure we are all nervous- you won't be alone in that! :-)

Oh gosh! I was imagining that the four spots per time slot were for interviews with four different interviewers and therefore individual. But I bet you're right!! That would make sense. I've never been in a group interview before, I wonder what they can possibly ask...

I got the same email! Judging by the number of interview slots (which was like 160ish or something) I'm guessing they're interviewing everyone who met the requirements. But we should still be happy! One step closer to our goal :-). I'm not sure what to expect, though I'm very curious too! They look like 30 minute time slots, which really isn't so bad. Good luck everyone!!

UIC Graduate Entry Program
It says on the website that interviews, if required, are April, and decisions come out in early May. Eeek! I have to find a way to be nonchalant or between now and then I'm going to worry myself into a pool of mush on the floor, haha. As for the acceptance rates, someone told me on another thread ( https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/uic-gep-applicants-971613.html#post8329513 )that UIC said they usually receive over 200 applicants and there are 52 spots available. So maybe the 20% ish acceptance rate still holds. If anyone else knows different, please feel free to comment :-) Good luck everyone who applied for 2015!

Oh and I applied to Chicago. What about you? And yes, I was thinking the same thing when they extended it! Hopefully that will help us! :-) I wonder who they'll ask to do interviews, if it will be everyone who's application looked good to them, or if it will be only people who they're on the fence about, or some other combo! I saw on an earlier thread from when the curriculum was different a couple of years ago that they ended up not interviewing anyone, they just made their decisions based on the applications. Did you have the chance to go to an info session? I wasn't able to because my fiance and I temporarily relocated to DC for his work, so I haven't been in Chicago. Did they mention anything of note that wasn't on the website? Particularly when it comes to what GPA etc they're looking for in candidates- I'm trying to calm my nerves because now through May is a long time to wait! Thank you :-)

That's wonderful! I'm sure it will be a big help to your application :-) So then the acceptance rate could be as low as a 26%. I would imagine that's the right number since you can only apply to one campus with your application and the pools are likely totally separate when they evaluate them. Thanks for responding! Sometimes forum posting feels like throwing words into the ether, haha. Good luck!!

UIC Graduate Entry Program
Does anyone know how the acceptance rates/what they look for in applicants has changed now that the GEP is a general MS and not specialty? I just applied for Fall 2015 and I'm so curious what kind of a chance I have! I've seen alot of posts about 20% acceptance rates for the GEP, but they were from previous years when the curriculum was very different. Does anyone have any info? Thanks!!

UIC GEP Applicants 2015
Hi everyone! I just applied for Fall 2015 entry to the Graduate Entry Program at UIC! Anyone else apply? I'm hoping to talk to some other people who are also excited/nervous about hearing back! :-) I think my application was strong academically and in terms of the essays and recs, but I started my prereqs right after graduating last spring so I haven't had time to get any hands-on health care experience, which I hope won't be too much of a negative on my app. Does anyone know what kind of GPA and experience they look for? Also- does everyone have to interview? Good luck guys! I hope we all make it in!!
