VCU's accelerated program 2015
VCU is an upper third nursing school and VCU Health is one of only 5 level 1 trauma hospitals in VA so from that standpoint it does give you a fairly competitive resume for CRNA school, but just be warned that VCU's actual CRNA school is highly competitive and while on paper their minimum requirement for applicants is 1 year of nursing in an ICU. VCU's CRNA program has made a soft change that 3-5 years of experience is more probable. Not only that but some of the ICU's are telling applicants that they will not give them favorable recommendations if they try to leave without giving the unit 2 years, simply because of the time, effort and cost associated with training a new grad for ICU positions. In my opinion which school you go to for your BSN is less of an issue than where you work your required ICU time. I would choose the school that's most convenient and cheapest for you in terms of living and tuition. Some of the CRNA schools are so competitive that a level 1 trauma is almost a requirement others are much more lenient as long as it's a large, busy hospital. Research some of your probable CRNA school requirements and "successful applicant profiles" because many times the minimum requirements are just not going to cut it, and that should help steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

VCU's accelerated program 2015
I am not seeing them in BB or on the main myVCU page. I am not sure if it takes a day to matriculate, but if I go back to the "student" tab under eservices and then click on "student schedule" it shows that I am registered for those classes. And also gives me the link to order the text books. But it tells me that there are no text books registered for the courses so I will need to look around a little more.

VCU's accelerated program 2015
Yes it did. I had to contact LaToya, to have her unlock it for me. The other 2 were no problem but 261 was an issue. She unlocked it and no problem. :) I am coming from over by the Grand Canyon. I wasn't planning on school until Aug, so I was out driving around the country. lol.

VCU's accelerated program 2015
Not sure if it helps, but I contacted VCU and I believe they were being nice about telling me they really couldn't tell me where I sat in the waitlist. Below is the email from Cindy. "I've been inundated with all of our other applicants pools and haven't had the ability to go back and re-rank everyone. Sorry about that! Definitely keep posted to your emails in case a space opens. Take care, Cindy"

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015
Well congrats to both of you! I am really nervous now! I had a 3.45gpa, all A's and 1 B in micro on the prereqs. My TEAS score was 92nd percentile for BSN's but I have zero medical experience. I did have a successful career in the military and gov though. Ugh so stressful. Lol

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015
Congrats! That is awesome! I guess I better go check my mail haha. I would hope that they would send both admittance and rejection letters at the same time. I don't want to have to sit around and wait. lol If you don't mind, what was your GPA and TEAS V score?

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015

-
Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015
Nothing yet. I would expect the middle of the week Wednesday or Thursday.

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015
There were 2 deadlines, the first one has passed and I believe that we will hear if we make the first pass around April 15th, if you did not get all of your documents in for the first pass you would have to wait until the second pass which happens end of June.

VCU vs GMU Accelerated BSN
I would guess that graduating from GMU would still hold high regard with VCU if you went back to their CRNA program. I would bet that even more importantly would be the level of experience you gain after your BSN in critical care. Good luck on your decision I wish I would have considered GMU when I was doing my applications.

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015
I just heard from the school today. They have started the process of evaluation. They didn't have one of my transcripts so I had to have it overnighted but it sounded like they would be done in a week or less. Quenne, I just moved from San Antonio Texas, I was there for about 5 years for work. I lived in Washington DC for 9 years before that. But I am originally from Idaho.

Marymount Accelerated BSN 2015

I emailed the school back and asked for any wait list info or statistics they might have for recent years of they email me back I will post it.

VCU's accelerated program 2015
Yes I was also wait listed a surprising and disappointing #21. Really unsure if I should put any stock in that number as being able to attend school this spring. Very unsure what could have ranked me so low. All A's but 1 B in the micro-preqs ACT - 26 Only a 3.26 undergrad GPA - could be the issue but was hoping since that was 10 years ago and the 11 recent classes I took were 9 A's and 2 B's they would take that into consideration.

VCU's accelerated program 2015
Yeah last year they found out on the 25th and the year before on the 22nd so hopefully it should be any day now!

VCU's accelerated program 2015
Good luck to everyone! I also applied to VCU as my only school for the ABSN. Thinking now maybe that wasn't the best choice. ha. I just left a career with the military/government of almost 16 years to go into medicine. I will be 37 in July, so probably one of the older potential students. I lived and worked in DC at the White House for 7 years, but have spent the last 5 years in Texas and Colorado, so it will be good to get back to the friends I have in VA. Good luck to everyone, hopefully I will see you all at VCU.
