  1. I actually find that hard to believe (that completing courses at CC lowering your chances) especially because UTHSC has a special agreement with Lone Star and HCC for the RN-BSN route that allows those students to get early acceptance. For HESI review material, definitely get this book: Admission Assessment Exam Review / Edition 3 by HESI | 9781455703333 | Paperback | Barnes & Noble Take the assessment exam and see where you weak points are, spend more time focusing on those first, (obviously) and then get back into the sections where you naturally excel at. For me, I had to focus more of my time on Grammar and I will SWEAR by this book I found on Amazon! It definitely brought me up at least 10 points for the HESI.Admission Assessment Exam Review / Edition 3 by HESI | 9781455703333 | Paperback | Barnes & Noble For A&P, I would use the official HESI guide, and then supplement your notes from AP I & II as needed. And if you need more practice on exams for particular sections (for me, I needed more practice on grammar) look at SAT books, other HESI exam books, etc. UTHSC has told me previously (at an info session) that you only get TWO scores you can submit, so make sure your first one is a good one because I heard the AP section the second time around is a lot more difficult.
  2. Hi Linds, no not as of this morning. I'm still waiting.
  3. I just called and spoke with someone today regarding the BON background check. I was told instructions will go out to us later on how to complete this. It is NOT DUE on May 2, 2015. Titers you can have done at Rediclinic ($30 each) or perhaps your primary physician...? I got them done at my job for $25 each so Rediclinic seems like the next cheapest out of pocket. If you don't have results yet for your titers, get an itemized receipt and turn that in and submit results as soon as you get them.
  4. That's a bummer... I'll call tomorrow and see how many people are waitlisted and post here if someone gives me an answer.
  5. Congrats AggieJ!! That really depends on you. You should look at factors such as: tuition, length of program, coursework involved, your commute, etc. I think both schools are great personally. A LOT of people told me I should have applied to UTMB because of their reputation but I decided to pass because I didn't want to spend more money on another entrance exam.
  6. Can anyone tell me where do I go to accept my offer of admissions? She said mine was mailed off two weeks ago, but I haven't received a packet. Also... My mail box was broken into a couple weeks back. So not sure if it got lost in the scuffle. I don't know if there's a deadline and I don't want to miss it!
  7. Kalfrn4 check your mailbox! I just emailed the admissions advisor and she said mine was mailed on the 13th or 14th! Maybe yours was too!!
  8. Hmm well now I'm confused because I thought they prioritized students who completed all of the pre-reqs...
  9. I'm not sure how you all feel about going for RN from a community college, BUT I know San Jacinto College (North Campus) is still taking applications until tomorrow: April 17th 4:00 PM. I will warn you, there is a LOT to do (immunizations AND titers, CPR card specifically from AHA, drug testing, etc.) And since many of you are finishing or have finished the pre-reqs for UTHSC, you should have all the pre-reqs done for San Jac already; you'll most likely finish your RN in 3 semesters. If you wish to go back for a BSN, UTHSC offers that program (also 3 semesters). Plus you only go to class on Wednesday of every week :)
  10. Ahh... mine are nowhere near as good. This is what I calculated: Overall: 3.54 Science: ?? (which classes count as science besides AP I&II and micro?) Overall HESI: 88 CT: 880 I also have a bachelors and masters degree with study abroad (ecology in Switzerland). I think my masters degree is where I really "shined" as an applicant. I didn't take my undergrad very seriously...
  11. Daniela_baez don't feel bad! There were other people in your shoes from summer applications as well and they ended up getting into UTHSC the following semester (some without even reapplying). You obviously deserve to get into a nursing school, it's just a matter of where and when. LindseyFaith, I was wait listed for Fall 2015. And yes, I already have all my titers done. I just have to go back and get my immunizations done. (I had to get them done for San Jac's RN application).
  12. I got wait listed :) and yes I'm happy about that because it's better than being denied. It seems like most people who got in were either wait listed from the summer application cycle or had really high GPAs. So if they just so happen to keep me in mind for The spring class, I will be ecstatic!
  13. Does anyone know how many students they accept each class? I'm not sure if I missed a post where someone else stated this.
  14. Hi! Just thought I would update you all. My friend's cousin is a current PVAMU undergrad and she just got her acceptance letter yesterday. Also, I think another thing they prioritize are the total number of pre-reqs completed at the time of the application deadline. Don't be afraid to contact them if you feel you fulfill all of their requirements and maybe your paperwork just didn't show it. I submitted a new transcript this week to update my transcript evaluation.
