  1. COBRA= you pay the whole premium each month as your employer o longer will. Because of The ACA, insurance companies can no longer impose pre-existing condition clauses, so shop around. Another thing to consider is to apply for medicaid and see if they'll cover you based on income. If you build a good case with a social worker and show you have great medical need and no benefits until Feb, and your paystubs show you cannot afford those bills (bring those and anything showimg your main life expenses) they may give you temporary medicaid or at least offer a share of cost plan. i work teaching medical billing so i ow a thing or two, good luck!
  2. Hi all! I'm a teacher at a similar school and teach administrative medical assisting. It is a private for profit school, which I find predatory, but I digress. I live in the Coachella Valley Palm Springs area and am strongly considering this school because: a. CC process it too crowded and too long and there's no alternatives for RN's in the area b. I'm 33 and need to get this done in a hurry as the support I have is for a limited time. c. I'm sick of waiting. I want to be a nurse yesterday. I'm curious about the following: 1. Classes are 5 hours long I hear, but how many days of the week? I know things vary based on your already completed prereqs but I want to know the bare minimum. At the school I teach, it's 5 hours a day. Since I'll be commuting an hour and half each day (3 hours round trip), I want to know what kind of schedule I'm looking at. Do they include weekends? Is only Mon-Thu/Fri? Is it four or five days a week? 2. Around what times to classes start/end? What's the earliest class time? And the latest? I'm a mom so transportation for school for my son is a factor, but I have help. 3. If you graduated, were you limited in any way in which parts of medicine you can work in? I'd love to do OR, L&D. I've got 12 years experience managing doctor's offices and doing their billing and now teach people how to do it and how to bill and all of the insurance info they need to be billers, coders, or office managers. Will this skill help me at all? Were the math and sciences really difficult? Hoping to get some answers to my plethora of questions! Thanks in advance!
