I messed up earlier in life on college classes that have really made it a struggle to get my gpa high enough to be competitive in any RN program. I also have gone only off and on the past 10 years or so amidst having serious jobs and marriage, kids, etc. If I continue working at my gpa it will take me straight a's from here on out and at least 60 more credits to even get in the mid 3's. (I have already retaken many of the bad classes but it hasn't helped my cumulative gpa enough to compete with these 3.5 to 4.0 students) I will spend just as much if not more money (I pay for all this on my own) compared to getting my LPN at an expensive school like Platt before I can even have a chance to get into an RN program. So going to Platt, the college credits i'm not so worried about since I already have many of my prereq's done anyways. Regarding the money, I have quite a bit of medical experience already working in an er now and before a plastic surgery office for several years so I think I could start out after LPN school at the hospital I work at making a little more than your fresh LPN's without as much experience. (I currently make $3 more than the starting pay for my current position for my work experience) Anyway, i'm saying all this to see if anyone has any other ideas of downsides for me that i'm not thinking of?
