Sage College of Nursing
I don't go there, but I've applied. I know someone who went there a few years ago and liked the experience. It is really expensive, though. Talking to other area nurses, some say that Russell Sage students are book smart but don't get a lot of clinical experience and therefore don't have good nursing skills compared to the ADN graduates of local schools. It's really competitive--probably because it's the only BSN program in the area, but they accept applications for Spring and Fall starts.

Pre-requesites
Check out SUNY SLN. This option is really cost-effective for NY residents, but if you aren't a resident but are desperate to take a class, maybe this will help.

Too Many Schools in Albany, NY area to Choose From...HELP!
Russell Sage is the only Albany area school that offers a BSN. If you already have a BS, admissions says you can transfer in credits from your prior degree and complete the program in as little as 3 semesters. The graduate school of Sage also has an RN-to-BSN bridge program. From what I understand, this program does not have a lot of spots open so it is extra competitive. However, it is free to apply and they accept applications every semester. Local nurses have told me that Sage graduates are smart, but do not have much clinical experience. The other schools you mentioned offer ADN diplomas. I've learned that HVCC is an excellent school, but there is a wait list. If it's appropriate for you, take some prerequisite classes at HVCC or online at SUNY SLN if you don't already have them because they are very cheap and convenient. Good luck researching! I also noticed how terrible the websites are for these area schools.

ABSN Worth the Debt?
We have a very similar background and I completely understand your feeling about go into debt. I agree with the person above because the cost of getting a BSN will result in a great return in investment. Your other degrees and future clinical jobs may end up helping you get a cushy desk/admin job down the road! In short--just do it if this is what you want :)

Dominican College ABSN 2015-2016
I applied there for the May 2015 start even though I've also read the mixed reviews. I went ahead because I know 2 people who have graduated from the program--one from the day ABSN program and another from the traditional BSN program. Both say that it's tough and faculty will cut students (or will place students into the traditional program) who aren't performing well, but it's very doable. My friend who completed the ABSN said that he would do the program again, which I take as a good sign. I know that the NCLEX pass rate isn't very high, but it looks like the school is being proactive about helping students prepare and study. It's a very fast program, even for an accelerated one--with all the holidays and breaks, it's closer to 11 months than 12 months. Dominican produces a lot of nurses and I bet the quality varies from person-to-person. I pay attention to bad online reviews, but I take them with a grain of salt because people are more likely to air their grievances rather than sing praises :) Good luck if you have applied!
