Our lab teachers mentioned that a lot of students are failing and it is only September. This is there first year doing this so maybe they should just stick to the norm. My grades are okay but a few of my friends are struggling and I am glad that this will help them out a lot.

Because you are a mentor, are you a second-year student? If so, can you tell me a few pointers on what to actually spend most of my time studying for the lecture tests,ex. prep points, objectives, outlines, powerpoints, chapters out of book,? I am pretty sure most questions will come out of a little bit of everything but I am just curious that maybe you had a better idea than me. Thanks

I know it' s a bit much, and this is just the beginning. I wouldn't give up so soon just yet. We have just started and have not been tested yet. I think once we have our test we will know what to expect from our instructors. And yes, those prep points are off the hook I think I spend at least 4-5 hours doing them, but my I talked to my mentor before the program started and she told me to work ahead and that's what I did. Maybe that's why it hasn't really hit me hard yet. Although it still is an ample amount of studying, practicing and focusing required in this program. I feel the prep points helps me study although they are annoying because I skim through the chapter while doing the prep points and read what is needed to be read for the question and answer, instead of reading first. Then on the weekend before my test, I will re-read the chapter and answer the objectives of the chapter and this hopefully will help me on the test. Just remember we are in this together, and this will soon come to past and we wil be greatly rewarded! :balloons: :biggringi

Today I just found out we had to do our APA paper by the second in clinical So that means I have to get started on that right away. The RN nursing program is located in Highland Lakes, and the LPN program is located in Southfield. Although I heard some classes for LPN are in highland lakes (not sure though).

Really? how? did you apply on-line or apply in person and how long did it take for them to interview. Whenever I go online at the Beaumont website they never have any positions.

That's what I'll probably wind up doing after my first two clinicals (Med-surg) getting a job as an extern. I just thought it could get my foot in the door. But I'm still trying everyday to apply on-line. Thanks

Hi I am a first year nursing student starting on Thursday and I wanted to know if there was any nursing assistant out here who hasn't been certified yet? And if so, are you working in a hospital or not. I want to work in a hospital contigent so bad, but nobody will hire me because of certification and I know so many people without experience in the hospital who has jobs. Can you let me know what I am missing, I have knowledge I just don't have the money to get certified right now and I know that some hospitals pay for certification. Let me know

Hi Love4Me! I was just wondering about the calculation test. I took pharmacology in the Summer of 04'. We basically learned the drug ratio and proportion, formula method and IV formulas. We never went over pediatric and any other math that I hear so much about. Was I taught everything I need to know in school? Or was this just because we had this class in the summer. I am worried that I won't be prepared for the test we get next semester in calculations. Oh by the way, I had Sallee.

Our uniforms are the same colors as the green in the OCC catalog, its a dark green. I like them because they won't get so dirty all the time. I almost forgot about the luncheon. What goes on at these luncheon? And also are you in the NSA? If so, how much time do you have to spend to participate? I am interested because I heard it gives you extra points towards your grade if you participated. I have also wanted to comment about the prep points. I have already started and some questions are only single sentence answers. What do she expect from you then?

August 1st was the first-year student's orientation. And this year uniforms are to be purchased only at the book store, for uniformity. They are not white anymore, they are Green! And as for the prep points for Foundations of Nursing 1710, they are located in the syllabus this year and the questions are in the study guide book. This information you can get at the book store. I am only registered to take one class this semester because I took Pharmacology in the Summer, so I am ahead in few chapters of my prep points in lecture and my study questions in my lab book, (as my mentor told me to do). I would take any position at Beaumont! I love that hospital. It is so clean and the you can in and out of emergency so fast! They are so friendly, I would take any position at Beaumont. I was online all night yesterday applying for nursing assistant positions and Beaumont only had one nursing assistant position and I applied for it. How do I go about finding the name of the recruiter? And how long should I wait before I call?
