  1. Hello everyone! As you all know, taking the TEAS test is a necessity for the nursing school application process. I was wondering what you all received on your TEAS test, including individual scores, and school you were accepted into. I have been taking practice tests and I can't seem to attain a composite score higher than 79%. My strenghts to weaknesses are as followed: Math, Reading, English, and then Science. Science seems to be my biggest struggle. Anyone have any study tips on how to achieve a better score on that portion of the test? Thanks in advance!!
  2. I actually was clinically diagnosed with all that my first year of freshman year. A lot of the time during that 1st year I was in therapy and under a treatment plan. BUT again, I am doing awesome now and focused on bettering myself and grades which clearly I am doing. Thanks for letting me know NOT to focus on negatives, but the positives.
  3. So I am currently a sophomore pre-nursing student. I decided I wanted to do nursing my second semester of my freshman year at a university I attended prior to transferring to a community college which I am at now. Unfortunately, I had a horrible GPA freshman year due to many factors (homesick, depression, anxiety), basically having a negative outlook on life, which impacted me in the worst way, and now I'm stuck with a 1.8 GPA that is making my school life so much harder. Now that I am back at home and at a CC I am doing well. I received a 4.0 this semester and hoping for a 3.7 - 4.0 next semester. I also volunteer at a local hospital (level 1 trauma center) on one of the busiest days, Monday. I don't have much work experience, besides a summer job at Subway and a marketing company as a receptionist. Although, I am taking a CNA course this summer, so hopefully as soon as I am certified I can start working. I also plan on volunteering at my old grammar school, teaching the girls volleyball team some volleyball skills that will help them grow as a player. BASICALLY... I need help!!! I need to find boosters that will outshine my awful freshman year GPA and really show everyone that I am a motivated, hardworking, intelligent person who made mistakes, but clearly learned from them.
  4. Actually ended the semester with a 4.0. Really hoping that i do the same next semester and HOPEFULLY be in nursing school by spring of 2016:snurse: Thanks everybody for the advice. I feel extremely motivated!! If you can dream it you can do it, right?
  5. First, I will begin the first part of my story.. So I started school at a 4-year university with intentions of pursuing a degree in Forensic Chemistry, which was eventually switched to pre-nursing my second semester. I had a very tough time my first year of college. I battled depression and an anxiety disorder which consumed me. I could't sit in classes without feeling like I was suffocating. Not only was I home sick but I felt like I was alone every single day. As a result of this, my grades suffered tremendously. My first year of college ended with a 1.8 GPA... Second part of my story.. I decided my second year of college I would go back home, get the help I needed and raise my GPA. First semester of sophomore year I received a 3.7 GPA at a community college. My 2nd semester GPA is projected to be between 3.4 - 3.7. Not only do I plan on raising my GPA, but I have also been volunteering at a local hospital (EMERGENCY ROOM) for the past five months and I plan on continuing this for a while. Most nursing schools I have researched require a C for all pre-requististe, including sciences, but a few require B's for all sciences. The classes that I failed are: inorganic chem, college algebra and statistics. The rest of my nursing prerequisites were passed with C's and above. I am aware that you are able to redo some of these classes which I am doing for inorganic chem and statistics this upcoming semester. Point is, sometimes I feel like giving up and switching my major again because I failed so badly my first year of college. I really do want to pursue a career in nursing. Volunteering at the hospital has brought so much determination into my life to become successful, but that first year of college is always in the back of my mind. So the question here is, is there any chance of me even being admitted into any nursing programs??
