  1. Hi madison_576, I know this is an older post, but I was browsing the Oregon nursing section and saw this. I was just wondering what you ended up doing and how you like it. I'm an ADN graduate from Hawaii wanting to relocate to Oregon. I understand that most hospitals in the area want BSN graduates, which is why I was looking into OHSU's RNBS online. Please get back to me when you get the chance. Thank you!
  2. Thank you for responding jorwil1! I'll look into new grad positions there!! Do you work in the area? If so, how do you like it?
  3. Aloha! I'm a super fresh newly graduated nurse (May 2018) expecting to pass the NCLEX by the first week of July and highly considering relocating to the wonderful Pacific Northwest due to competitiveness of new grad programs here, in Hawaii! I graduated with my ASN, however am going to continue to get my BSN depending on where I get hired as some hospitals don't allow online BSN programs (i.e., WGU). So a little background on my work experience, I worked as a home care aide for a year and just made one year in acute care as an aide at a local hospital and ornish clinic. As stated earlier, I plan to take my NCLEX as soon as possible and I also plan on getting ACLS certified within the next month or two. Any tips or advice on getting hired through any RN residencies in the PNW? I would love to hear your insight! Please and thank you!!! PS. Congrats to all my fellow new grads out there!! I wish luck to all of you!
  4. Yay, littlebear'smama!!! I knew something was not right with those amazing stats. I will be going to the orientation! I'm hoping a lot of people applied to both KCC and MANOA and are opting to go to MANOA so we can all of us alternates get in! I will see you at orientation
  5. lilbear'smama, I am completely shocked! I thought you would definitely get in with your amazing score & GPA. But seriously, do not give up! During the next application period, stats, GPA, NA course, and work experience will be hard to say no to. At least in the mean time, you can work as a CNA and get your foot in the door so it will be easier to find a job after nursing school. Best of luck to you!
  6. Bpacis, Our scores are VERY similar! I have high hopes for the both of us (:
  7. lilbear'smama, Thank you for the positivity! I actually forgot to attach an envelope to my application, so my letter was waiting for me at the Nursing Department office. Once I read it, I immediately marched over to walk in advising and Kristy put some sense into me. What made feel most at ease is that she reminded me that UH Manoa letters are being sent out shortly and a lot of people apply to both, and of course, will choose Manoa over KCC with it being a BSN program and all. So I still have high hopes!! Clinicals are going great! My class had 14 students in it, so we split up, half at Leahi and half at Kuakini. I'm at Kuakini and am loving it so far. I got a lot of skills done in the first week so I see myself finishing up with clinicals strong.
  8. Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know, I got my letter today and am an alternate. Have you folks heard anything yet?
  9. Littlebear'sMama, Your stats sound incredible. From what I've heard (mostly read on this forum) your chances of getting in are great! I am in the Thursday/Friday CNA class, and start clinicals next week Thursday. Your stats are better than mine. GPA: 3.78 TEAS: 80.3 I also go certified as an NA 5 years ago and work for a home care company. The week of letters is coming soon! Hope we both get in (:
  10. What are your stats like?
  11. Hey! I applied for the FALL 2016 program as well! I have experience working for a home care agency and am currently getting re-certified through the KCC CNA program. Best of luck to us!!
  12. Hey! I applied for the FALL 2016 program as well!
