I am currently a CNA and I will be starting my first semester of Nursing School in January. When I graduate, it is my hope to work in a NICU unit. I pretty much have an idea of what I must do in order achieve that goal by reading all of the wonderful post here, but the one question I have not seen answered is this: How many hours, on average, do nurses in the NICU work per week? And is there overtime, either mandatory or voluntary? This will not change my mind on what I want to do. This will give me a better heads up on what to expect. Thanks for all the help.
