Practicum
So I have a practicum tomorrow on vitals, PPE, assessment, etc. We don't know what the instructors are going to ask for. All we were told is that we will all definitely be doing T, P, R, BP and PPE. As far as a physical assessment, we will know when the time comes. I'm worried about the assessment part. It's very intimidating to have people standing there staring at you waiting for you to give the right answers. My friend said "walk in there like you own it". I guess she's right, confidence is more than half the battle. Any advice for the assessment portion? Thanks everyone!! Staci

Is nursing school as bad as they say?
All I can tell you from my experience is this: I started my first semester last month and right now at this point I feel that it has completely consumed me. I work and have a 13 year old son and sometimes I feel so guilty because all I do is go to work then school and when I'm home I'm studying. There is alot to do between reading which is an enormous amount of material, preparing for clinical days, preparing for lecture and then throw in lab hours, practicing your skills, writing papers. It just seems to be so much work and I sit there and say, how the heck am I gonna do all this. It's definitely doable and most of the time I feel like I"m on autopilot just going through the motions but I have to say this, I made alot of new friends in nursing school and we have sort of banded together to help eachother through this. We set up a study group and so far, we have all grown close. I enjoy the class and the clinical days, but truth is it is alot of work. I wish you all the luck on your journey!!! Staci

Online support group Moms in Nursing School
OMG this great. I just started nursing school last month. I have a 13 year old son and I am having the hardest time balancing work, school and him. I feel bad like I"m never home anymore because of school and work. I would love to join this group and get tips from other moms in the same boat.

New nursing student
Hi everyone. Well I started nursing school last month and OMG am I tired. Between school, my son, work and everything that you need to do for school, I don't know whether I"m coming or going lol. I am still having some trouble with BP. Does anyone have any advice for getting it right? Is it all just practice? I have clinical tomorrow and am nervous about getting it wrong on a patient. I practiced on my husband and in the lab at school but still not 100% comfortable. Thanks everyone!!!

Almost done
Hi everyone. I'm new here and on my last pre requisite class before taking TEAS. My gripe is that why do we have to take the TEAS when we just finished all the pre reqs and passed? It's a never ending uphill battle just to get to take the exam, that's with the hope of passing too. I have my A&P II lab final on the 10th and then the week after I have my A&P final. Anyone else feel this way?
