  1. BriAllene, I think you need to actually be a student to join. Hence having the Duke email address. I will try to find out for sure..... If it matters, there have been no posts so far except for a graduating student trying to sell her books.
  2. Yes there is a FB group. Just search Duke ABSN Fall 2015.
  3. Cafe gypsy, that's a good question! I had 62k in my mind the whole time, but didn't actually do the math. 4 semesters would be 80+k!
  4. Has anyone heard if there is a specific laptop that we should have for the program?
  5. Katiemate24, I JUST an hour or so accepted my offer!!! I'm so nervous and excited too. Speaking with a few current student and several faculty helped me answer all the questions and concerns I had. I have no doubt that my education at UNC would have been great but it came down to the fact that I had an offer from Duke and not yet from UNC and it just felt right. So here I am! Looking forward to spending the next 1 1/2 yrs with all of you!
  6. Hey Duke students! I need your help! I was just accepted into Duke's program and have a week to decide what to do ( I was on the waitlist). EEK! I was also planning on applying to UNCs ABSN program for Spring 16 but I am trying to decide whether to accept Duke be done with it! I really just want the program that will best meet my needs. I realize both UNC and DUke are awesome and I may just be over thinking it all. I am trying to get students opinions on Duke's program. Do you love Duke? Do you regret your decision to go there? What were the best parts of the program? I am very interested in doing one of their Global immersion experiences and know that not everyone gets to do it and that you have to apply. At UNC it sounds like if you want to have one of these immersion experiences you can and that there are several more opportunities. My career goal is to work in global maternal health, so that experience is important to me. It seems that SO many don't go with Duke because of the money but I am trying to put the $$$ aside and compare just the programs. Any pros and cons to the program would be very much appreciated! Thank you! If you would rather email me that would be great. [email protected]
  7. Sofiacna, thank you so much for your post! I'm going crazy trying to decide whether to decline this offer and try for UNC. What if I don't get in to UNC?! AHH! Would you be ok if I sent you a PM with some questions? I would love any additional info from an actual student :)
  8. Will you let me know what they say about postponing? I'm almost positive that they don't do that but maybe I am mistaken.
  9. I did get an email from Nora that is how I knew to check my Applicant Self Service account. She did not say anything about other letters being sent out or not. I did not apply to anywhere else. But in the next 2 weeks I will decide whether to accept or decline and apply to UNC. @futuremahu I have until April 24 to make a decision.
  10. Hey All, I just got my acceptance letter! I was on the wait list. Decisions, decision!!
  11. Lol. That's the exact email she sent me when I asked a few questions about the waitlist when acceptance letters were first given out. She probably gets so many emails right now that she just chooses a reply that she has saved. :) hope some of us hear back soon!
  12. Perfect! I hope you get in too!!
  13. I agree, it does seem harder to get into especially if you're a 2nd degree student trying to get into the BSN program. that's what I keep hearing from administration and other students. i guess this info should be on the UNC thread :) hope all had a great time at Duke days!
  14. futuremahu, yes I am :) and no I haven't heard anything. I haven't checked my portal though. I am assuming that she will send me an email. I emailed her several weeks ago and she said "we will get in direct contact with you if you are taken off the waistlist". I am not sure if I will accept if they do offer me a seat though. I am also very interested in UNC CH ABSN program. It is actually ranked above Duke's and its a third of the $$$$. They focus a lot on your volunteer work as well which I have a lot of. decisions!
  15. I'm 99.9% positive they won't let you. I recall someone asking at the info session last year.
  16. I wonder if they send out more acceptance letters than they have seats for....
  17. Fjd13, i've lived in Cary which is right next to Morrisville for 11 years now. It takes me 35 minutes with non-rush-hour traffic to get to Duke. I go up Davis dr to 40 to 147. Where would you be in morrisville? I live in North Cary which puts me a little closer to the freeway. But if I was in South Cary I'd be another 10 minutes away. Morrisville is almost the same distance as cary. More NE morrisville would give you Easy access to 147 and 540 (part toll) or 55, would be a good thing. Once you are on the freeways it's quick and easy. 147 does get very congested in Rush hour though. Let me know if you have any more questions about the area.
  18. For those waitlisted: I sent an email to Nora about specifics like when would we expect to be notified if we get pulled from waitlist, how long is it, is there an order? She replied that she is not able to provide any additional info. :-/
  19. Do you all know if those wait listed are able to go to Duke Days?
  20. @stategrl Did you apply for UNC May cohort? My friend applied as well and I can't believe they haven't told you guys yet! Any tips for applying? I'm pretty sure I'm going to start working on my application essays for Jan matriculation. Good luck!
  21. Hey emmysara, one question, how are most of your cohort financing your schooling? Is it mostly loans? I realize you may not know this info and that it may not be a topic of discussion. :) thanks for chiming in!
  22. Thanks homelife! Do you happen to know when those who were on the waitlist were notified that they were accepted? How have you liked the program?
  23. All of you Duke SON students, I just got waitlisted for Fall 15. How many of your cohort were accepted from off the waitlist? Anyone know how long it is? Thanks!!!
  24. Waitlisted!!!! Ugh! Glad it's not a no but now do I move forward to applying to UNC?? Does anyone know when wait listed folks get a yes or no? Or if there is actually an order to the waitlist? Congrats to all who got in!!
  25. Yes I took both anatomy labs and am taking mico and lab this semester.
