  1. He is at home...and the LPN and I both made requests to the physician he was seeing yesterday to obtain a weight. The physician did not put in the order for a weight. The mom took the CL down to ER and they would not weight him either. Being at home..he only has a standard hospital bed with no weight scale. I've called around to all the DME companies to see if they have anything to help us. He also saw a nutritionist at the end of March who failed to put a weight or height on her visit summary with him.
  2. I have a client who has multiple pressure sores on body. I spoke with nurse and she said in order to get pressure reducing matress we need 4 things. Weight, Wound Measurements, Nutritional Eval; and Lab Work. We have gotten 3/4 tasks completed. The hospital refused to weigh the client yesterday. The client is bed bound and has greater than 5/10 pain most of the time. I just need one weight...How can I make this possible. He does have a hoyer lift at home so I'm going to call around and see if there is a scale I can borrow to attach to it. I was able to get into the CL chart but no recent weight for this month has been recorded. Am I able to use a weight that was taken back in January of this year? It frustrates me that the hospital would not aid in this situation.
  3. Thank you! I just hate seeing all that money put into equipment that may not be needed in a matter of months.
  4. So I found out today that Medicare doesn't supply bathroom equipment like shower bench, grab bars so forth. What do I do next. I feel horrible having to tell the family that it's not going to be covered and it's going to have to come out of their pocket..at least I'm assuming. There is no secondary insurance to go through. Is there any nurses who have gone down this path and know what options are available. I am looking up equipment now to recommend for them to go through to find the equipment they need at a decent price.
  5. No one is here on the weekend but I did make a couple phone calls out so hopefully will hear back soon.
  6. Exactly what the question says. I can't go into detail. I work in home health care. Do I call the case manager to address this issue or do I need to get a doctor's order first before going forward.
  7. Thanks for responding. It definatly made me feel better about moving forward with this school. I'm glad its going well for you! :) I found some other posts regarding this school as well and it doesn't seem too bad. I did a lot of online classes before getting accepting into the Nursing program so I know I have the motivation to get through them and stay on task just wanted to make sure the teachers and content seems organized :)
  8. I'm currently looking into this program. I submitted my application. The funds to complete by BSN online with this school is affordable. I just want to know if anyone is currently working on their BSN online/physically at this school and some ideas if I should go forward if accepted. Pro's Con's or anything. I talked to the program counselor on the phone and he was very helpful but when I asked about graduation rates regarding the program he wouldn't give me any exact numbers which worried me. I want to complete my BSN without the big hassle of realizing I chose the wrong place to go. Any advice or insight would be appreciated! :)
  9. First Time I took nclex: I bought the Mosby book, the flash cards, and was reading through my med surg book. I didn't feel like I had a good study plan though and was just doing whatever I thought I needed to do. Did 265 questions and failed Second Time: I purchased the Hurst Review. Studied content and did everything Marlene said to do. My q trainer results were high 60%. I felt so much more prepared and ready. I also had the PDA by the Lurtichy (sp??) but that priority and delegation book everyone said was a must. I did that whole book and was answering very well from it and enjoyed the case studies from it very much. I focused more on studying and knowing my content while doing questions at times I was tired of reading the lecture content to keep my mind going. Went and took the NCLEX this past Thursday, did all 265 questions again and failed. I could see that I was answering questions from easy and I would start seeing myself getting into the more priority questions and harder questions and my god. I felt like everything I studied had been useless when these types of questions came up. Like I would get a priority question and all the answers to pick from all looked like the same level of priority to me. Nothing like I was able to distinguish from the priority book I used. I need help in being able to get through these hard questions. I know my content. I know I can get through these middle level questions. I need some kind of reference for these hard questions though. Or anything at all if anyone is able to relate to what I am talking about and been through it. I am desperate. And I to not knock Hurst I really enjoyed their system. I was able to understand a lot of things I was confused about before when studying the first time and want to continue to use it while studying again. And I haven't gotten my papers yet about results but from the first time my results were all near passing. So I figured I just needed this extra nudge and content remediation. But according to results I'm still doing something wrong.
