Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
So I thought I read somewhere that GWAR is satisfied with 2 English comp/lit classes as a transfer student, but then I saw somewhere they were just a prerequisite. Does anyone know how we can go about dealing with this placement test/class?

Does anyone know if Sac State nursing program allows you to become a CNA after a certain number of semesters are completed? I know some schools do this but I'm not sure if Sac was among them!

Ok just checking! There's a lot of info in there, I had to read them a solid 2-3 times myself 😂

Did we need to send anything about our HIPAA module? 😳 the email said no need to send in HealthStream documentation right now, just to do the module and sign that paper after we do it.

Heads up, the official e-mails should be out now, I just got one :)

SDSU Fall 2015
I had a 4.0 GPA, and a 91.3 on the TEAS with no work experience. It updated about an hour after the first person in the thread said theirs changed.

I feel like that doesn't mean you're not in yet - mine changed a bit after everyone else's. It seems like they're doing them in waves maybe?

Wow, sounds intense! I didn't even realize the program was considered an accelerated program til the e-mail mentioned it. It's a bit intimidating but I'm still excited! Also, when you say there was a lot of variation, do you mean the times were often shorter/longer than scheduled or just moved around time-wise?

Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
Quick question, the e-mail stresses that the orientation we need to go to as transfer nursing majors is June 17th. However, when I go to sign up for it, the only dates it will let me sign up for are the 11, 12, or 22nd. They're all labeled transfer orientation and are under my major. Are you guys having the same problem? Should I just sign up for the day that works best for me instead?

I'm in as well, congrats everyone! Can't wait to meet everyone.

SDSU Fall 2015
If I were you, and you really want to go to SDSU, I don't see the harm in waiting. You'll still be able to put your intent in for SJSU tomorrow if something goes wrong with SDSU or we don't hear back in time! Edit: Just re-read your post - if today is the last day to put in your ITE then I would put it in just to be safe.

So if we get into the university, does that mean we got into the nursing program?
-
SDSU Fall 2015
Are we supposed to put in our intent to enroll by May 1st? Other schools want you to even if you don't know about the nursing program yet, but you just aren't required to pay. I'm getting the protocol a bit mixed up for each school. So are you guys already putting in your intent or does SDSU have a different deadline for nursing majors?

I believe we just need a class for healthcare providers. I'm looking at one of the orientation documents from 2012 and it says "you will have to take a CPR class specifically for healthcare providers" Someone correct me if I'm wrong or this has changed!

Yes!! I took her as well! That's crazy, good to hear from another person from Foothill :)

I took the same class at Foothill as well! Just thought that was an interesting coincidence I also recommend taking it at Foothill if possible, the workload wasn't too bad and the professor was super nice.

Also, last year the cut off score ended up being the number of points applicant #120 had, if that makes sense. So the cutoff most likely will be 75 this cohort!

Right there with you. I'm going to be overthinking everything until we get acceptance letters there was nowhere on the application we actually wrote our points out, right? I have 84 points but I don't remember specifically writing that on the application!

The update emails are out!! Everyone check your emails :) "We received over 490 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 79 points—the applicant ranked 120 has 75 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent to Enroll process, but we regret it may be higher than previous semesters"

Hearing that it was the biggest applicant pool made me a little nervous! But I checked the applicant pool stats and it looks like it usually goes up every year. I've been checking my email way too often for any updates, I'm really hoping we'll hear an update within the next week. At least time seems to be flying! :)

SDSU Fall 2015
Has anyone heard back from the school itself? I thought they were sending admissions decisions out by early March. Everyone I know (no nursing majors) has gotten admission decisions from the university but it still says "pending" on the portal! I just want to know if this is normal?

Which state BSN program to pick?
I'm applying to Fresno state as a backup as well. However, I'm also ok with getting a job as a CNA (planning on possibly getting that after this quarter since I'm about done with prerequisites), getting a little experience, and then reapplying for spring quarters at sac (if they end up taking transfer students for spring) or other state schools if necessary.

Thank you guys for your input, it's been super helpful! I didn't even realize San Diego had a 3 year program, and hearing good things about sac is reassuring. It may be better to stay close to home as well; I'm not from sacramento, but I have family there, and I have friends who go to school nearby. While I know it's a good idea not to be too optimistic just yet, I feel like once you are accepted you don't get much time to decide! I've looked at sacramento's previous applicant pool and according to the trends in point systems, I feel like I'm in a pretty safe range of being accepted (if all else goes right)! For San Diego, I have no idea. I do realize anything could happen and I definitely won't be making any serious decisions anytime soon. Just want to be as prepared as possible :)

Thanks for the quick reply! A friend and I are going to check San Diego's campus out next weekend. As for interviewing students, I will definitely try that if I can find one :)
