Hello! I am currently a person with absolutely no college credits. I graduated from HS 7+ years ago and I want to get into the nursing field. I thought about going to a technical school like Eastwick or Lincoln Tech to get an LPN and start from there. Unfortunately those schools are much more expensive than I thought, and in NJ finding an LPN job will be near impossible. I would much rather go for my RN. However, I went to several seminars and am in distress. My preferred school is Bergen Community College. The price is right and it's close to home. Because I have no previous college credits, I want to enroll as a non-degree seeking student and take 2-3 courses that are prereqs for the RN program. Besides that, what else can I do to increase my chances of getting accepted? Another school I was looking at was Holy Name Hospital. But I saw their admission requirements included my HS transcripts.. The majority of my time in HS I was homeless and missed a lot of school. While I graduated and passed every class, my GPA is a sad 2.3 and I feel that would really hurt my chances. I apologize in advance for my ignorance, and any advise would be greatly appreciated.
