Thanks! I'm just so unsure because school has always come easy to me, high school and my CNA class, but nursing school is going to be so much different. Did you personally know the person at the top of your class and if they worked or not?

To start off, I have a REALLY high goal for myself for when I do get to nursing school: I want to graduate #1 in the class, however, I have a slight problem, I am going to have to work part time, probably 20-35 hours a week. I'm wondering if it will get in the way of that goal. I understand that it varies from person to person depending on how they study and how their brain takes in information, but I really want to know about how other people experienced it. How did you find time to study? How stressful was it? How are your grades?

Thank you, I started freaking out when I was looking at the amount of unemployed RNs and the lack of jobs in my county. Hopefully an RN to BSN bridge will be in my future.

If nurses with Associate's are hardly ever hired anymore?

My final question is, when I am a CNA can I find a place to get EKG and Phlebotomy certifications then I can be a PCT?

Hopefully, I will pass my exams to become a CNA in 2016-2017. I graduate from high school in 2017, so I will be a CNA for some months (I think 4+?) before I finish high school. Is there a way I can go from CNA to PCT? I can't just stop the CNA courses and say I want to be a PCT instead, because we don't earn certifications other than our license in my technical program WITHIN my high school. My school does not offer PCT, only CNA. I KNOW CNA COURSES TO NOT TAKE YEARS TO COMPLETE. I AM IN A BASIC MEDICAL COURSE FOR 2014-2015 2015-2016, WE THEN TAKE THE CNA COURSE OUR SENIOR YEAR 2016-2017. Thank you!

Do you feel having work experience as a CNA made nursing school easier for you? Also, I'd love to hear your stories about your career as a CNA. :)

What drew me to nursing was my love for biology and medical. I think it is boring since we work independently most of the time and I don't have friends in my class. I don't have clinical yet so it may just be I haven't had the real experience. I'll probably talk to my guidance counselor the beginning of next week. Thank you.

I'm not exactly sure, I don't dislike anything, it's more like I'm losing interest. I don't like anyone in my class or want to be friends with them, they're from a 'high end' district and are... Not exactly tolerable people to be around, I'm kind of lonely as it may be. We won't have clinicals until 2016-2017, we work on each other for non-invasive procedures such as trimming nails. Real life people, yes. Actual patients, no. I'm hoping independent learning can help me get back into nursing, I think being away from the class for a week for Thanksgiving break and it made me feel differently. Thank you, I'll definitely check out videos and such.

Of course. My Mother's friend is a CNA to RN, she says it's a lot different, especially in school.

If you have seen my past discussions, I'm a 16 year old girl in a medical program at my high school. I have been noticing that my interest in nursing has slowly been declining, I'm not sure if it's because my class is too easy since we're doing CNA work, or if I'm just not interested anymore. I have heard from many people that if you're a CNA who doesn't like your job, you will enjoy being an RN. I was wondering if there are ways I could jump start myself into learning RN skills, such as learning online through specific sites, I would like to learn more of an RN's job rather than a CNA to see if I have genuine interest. I'm going to dedicate 5 hours a week to working on my math not including my Algebra.
