NJCU vs Rutgers Newark ABSN?
Thanks so much for being willing to answer my questions. I appreciate it more than you know because I haven't been able to find many people on this site that have transferred into RU's generic track program. How was your wait to get into the program after completing the 24 credits? I've heard some people say the wait was so long that they ended up transferring to other programs.

NJCU vs Rutgers Newark ABSN?
Hi, Are you referring to Rutgers' generic track BSN, RN-BSN program, or the accelerated program? I'm currently enrolled at a CC completing prereqs and I'm planning on going to Rutgers for their generic BSN program. Since both the generic track and the RN to BSN programs at Rutgers require that students complete a 24 or 30 credit residency before they're admitted to the nursing program, I figured I might as well just go for the generic program. It is really hard to find in depth information on this though since most posts on here are for the accelerated track. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

How many graduates were in your graduating class?
Hi all, I was reading the newspaper earlier tonight and I saw that a local community college had a total of 88 graduates in their nursing program and I was taken aback by this. I'm still pre-nursing myself, but everything I've ever heard and read has led me to believe that most nursing schools take a very limited amount of students and even less students actually make it through the program. Even the state university where I live (NJ) only turns out about 25-30 graduates per year, so 88 seems really high to me. For some information on this nursing school: they have no admission requirements or tests to get into the school, and all are accepted as long as they have a 2.5 GPA. Reading about this high number of graduates made me wonder; is this as out of the ordinary as I believe it to be? How many graduates were in your graduating class? Thanks for any information.

Financial aid issue/aggravation
I haven't been rude to anyone at the school or anything. I'm frustrated but I'm not taking it out on them, especially since I know that would only backfire. The last time I spoke to someone at the financial aid department, they informed me that I had until March 1st to work it out with my state grant, but the fact that they sent me a check before they even received my state grant confuses me. I'm going to contact them on Tuesday. Thanks for the replies and info!

Financial aid issue/aggravation
Hi everyone, Before the current semester, I applied to a different school so I sent my FAFSA there, but their financial department gave me a really hard time about getting things squared away and the process took so long that I ended up missing out on all of the classes I wanted to take and I opted to stay at my current school. Part of my financial aid was sent to the school I didn't attend, and in the midst of getting this situation all squared away, my current school has sent me a refund check for the money left over from my federal financial aid. The deadline for my federal financial aid is March 1, so I'm very confused how this is supposed to work out now. Is the school going to keep the money? Or am I just going to get another check? Just to provide some more in depth information, the state I live in has a state grant program that I qualify for because I have a high GPA and I'm part of an honor society. I'm kind of sweating this money because I wanted to use it to buy a laptop (no frills, nothing fancy, just something reliable for school) for the upcoming online classes I'm required to take for my program. Has anyone been in a situation like this? This is my first time having any issues like this and I've contacted all parties involved and no one has given me a straight answer. I went from playing hot potato to get the funds to the correct school, and now I have no idea if I'll even be receiving them. This has been an extremely frustrating ordeal. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Transferring to Rutgers (Generic BSN)
Thanks so much for your in-depth response! I know about RUSON not accepting outside transfers and I intend to apply to the school of arts and science to complete the 24 credits before applying school-to-school. I'm just trying to save as much money as I can on my education in the meantime before I transfer to RU SAS. The phone number you provided has been very helpful!

Rutgers transfer students
Hi everyone! This post is for any students/nurses who transferred from a community college to Rutgers. Since Rutgers' nursing program does not accept transfer students from outside schools, they require that prospective students attend the School of Arts and Science and establish a GPA by taking 24 credits and then applying "school-to-school." For anyone who has taken this route or knows someone who has, what classes did you take while you were fulfilling Rutgers' 24 credit requirement? I've read that on some occasions students were granted permission to take lower-level nursing classes, such as "Cultural Dimensions of Humans" and "Trends in Healthcare Delivery" but what other classes have you or anyone you know taken? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Questions about Brookdale Community College program
This is very helpful! Thanks so much. Brookdale is actually cheaper per credit than my current CC and because I will be taking online classes, I'll be able to pay what in-county students do, so that has been sounding pretty good to me. I will definitely also look into the schools you've mentioned. I actually first heard of Brookdale on this site as it is pretty far from home for me, and I've looked into what classes match on njtransfer and thankfully there are quite a few. If you wouldn't mind, could you perhaps tell me which classes you took at the other CCs for RU? I plan on taking about 6 classes at Brookdale but if I can do better elsewhere, I'm open to other options. Thanks again!

Taking organic/biochem online
Thank you so much for your thorough answer! I scoured that website and I swear I didn't come across that. I'm just getting used to things on there so I'm sure I blindly missed it.

Brookdale Community College
Hi everyone, I applied and was accepted to Brookdale CC (in New Jersey) with the intention of taking quite a bit of my prereqs online before I transfer to a nursing program at a university. I'm having second thoughts now, because although I know Ratemyprofessor.com isn't really something I should rely on heavily, ALL of the online professors have horrible reviews from students saying that the classes were poorly prepared for being taught online. In many instances it states that attendance is required, there are field trips, proctored exams for humanities courses (in my current school those are only required for math classes), and many students said the professors were terribly forceful with their opinions and gave poor grades to those who disagreed with them. The part about required attendance and field trips is a big turnoff for me as I wouldn't even be taking online courses if I had the time for things like that.. I would just go to the traditional route and take classes at the school. I'm scared to make a move at this point because I don't want to set myself up for complete failure if it is true that the classes are so poorly equipped for distance education, but at the same time, I know that sometimes those ratings are written by students who are upset with their professors after they receive poor grades. Does anyone here have any experience with this school? Please let me know what you think and/or how your experience is/was. Thanks so much in advance. (I posted this in the pre-nursing student forum because the New Jersey forum is usually not particularly active and I have never had success posting there before.)

Taking organic/biochem online
Hi everyone! I'm considering taking a organic/inorganic/biochem class online to meet the requirement for a BSN program I plan on transferring to. There is no mention of a lab requirement for this class, the description is: The student will consider selected concepts from inorganic, organic and biological chemistry which will be applied to allied health and biological fields. Skills will be developed in a laboratory program which enhances topics under consideration. The program is designed for students who have had no previous chemistry course. Credits: 4 How does taking a chem class online work? Is there a lab required? Any info is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Questions about Brookdale Community College program
Hi everyone, I see that you guys are grads or near grads from Brookdale. I am an out of county student looking to take some prereqs online to transfer over to Rutgers for their BSN program. I have a few questions since I called the school and the woman I spoke to had a bad attitude and was very unhelpful. She said I would have to apply there, and take a placement test. I am just wondering: will I be able to take the classes that I want to take to transfer, or will I be expected to complete the program? Any info would be VERY much appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

Transferring to Rutgers (Generic BSN)
Hi all, I am currently pre-nursing at UCC. I am trying to save as much money as possible, so I am taking all of my prereqs at a community college before I transfer over to Rutgers. From what I have read on here, Brookdale Community College offers many prereqs that my current school does not, which will save me both time and money when the time comes to transfer over to Rutgers. Is it possible to transfer credits to Rutgers from two different schools? If I withdraw from UCC and attend Brookdale for a few semesters to gain credits that are unavailable to me at UCC, will Rutgers accept the credits from both colleges? THanks everyone.
