  1. Thanks for your suggestion because to be honest with you the whole loan process is something that I was seriously considering. I have no problem working while I complete the pre-reqs but once I really get into my nursing classes-which happen to be during the day-I really just want to focus on school. It's just so much easier and I don't have kids so the only person I really have to support is myself. Thanks for again for your suggestion. It really helps clarify things for me.
  2. I start my pre-clinicals for nursing school at BCC in the Spring 2008. I am having some difficulty making up my mind whether or not I should work part time so that I can devote more time to school and take more classes or continue to work FT and just take 1 or 2 classes at a time. Eventually if I'm successful and get into clinicals at Bronx Community I will have to go to class during the day anyhow. I do have rent and bills like anyone else but I have a roommate. I am very torn and really need to make a decision because the longer I leave this decision up in the air the more it bothers me. I really would like some suggestions from anyone who has attended BCC or any other school for nursing school as to how they put themselves through school. Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

Hi my name is candice. I'm from manhattan and I moved away to maryland and now I'm soooooooooo homesick . So I'm moving back to nyc next August. I want to begin my nursing career when i finally do get back; the only thing is my brother checked out the nursing programs at CUNY and he says there's a crazy waiting list like 2-3 years!! Ya gotta be kiddin me!!!! That's way too long for me. So I've devised a little plan for getting back to NY and starting my nursing career and I'm looking for some frank feedback. So here is my PLAN: 1. I plan on taking a CNA course so that I can support myself and gain some experience while working on my RN. A friend and I will be living together when I move back so some of my expenses will be a little lower. 2. Then after I get the cna I plan on taking the nursing pre-reqs like anatomy 1 and 2 at BCC, laguardia or some other communty college so I can transfer them over to a private nursing school like Beth Israel or Cochran. I'm willing to pay the extra for the private school because I just really want to get into nursing and I really don't feel like waiting forever with CUNY schools. So that 's my plan. I'm 24 and I just feel like I've wasted a lot of time and I just want to get started as soon as I can when I do get back to ny. Your feedback will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
