  1. I went back to school this past fall to start on my pre reqs. I've always been a fairly anxious person but never considered meds because I didn't think I needed them. I only had two classes this semester but combining them with working full time and knowing I had to get really good grades made my anxiety go through the roof. I couldn't concentrate at work or studying. I was a mess. Luckily I had a physical about half way through the semester and my dr. suggested citalopram. I was hesitant because I was really worried about side effects but I tried it anyway. Right now I am only on 10mg but it has made such a huge difference. I know longer feel like I am going to lose it at any second and my anxiety is mostly gone. I also take melatonin at night to sleep, it really helps to turn my mind off. I suggest talking to your dr. about other meds if the one you are using isn't working for you. Oh, I've also found making time for exercise has helped a lot with my mood too.
  2. I have a full time office job M-F, luckily my boss lets me come in really early every day so I can get my 40 hours in. I never thought I would get used to coming into work at 6:30 every morning but I am making it happen. Since I already have a degree I only have 6 or so classes to take before I can apply to the nursing program. I took two classes which ended up being only 7 credits this semester. One semester 10 years ago I took 18 credits just to finish my business degree. I wasn't working full time but I was probably still working around 30 hours a week. That semester doesn't even compare to my current semester with chem and anatomy. With labs in both classes and the amount of studying and memorizing I will admit that I am overwhelmed. I've decided that for the next two semesters I am only going to be taking one class, it adds a semester on to when I thought I would finish but I am ok with that. I would suggest starting with a class or two and seeing how it goes. After a semester you should be able to figure out how much you are able to put on your plate. Good luck!!
  3. Breathe, seriously. I just returned to school this semester after 10 years off to get my second degree. I started obsessing about every wrong answer and every wrong mistake I made so I know where you are coming from. It isn't worth it, you are going to make mistakes, it is school after all. You are there to learn. You can't change those answers now so quit worrying about them. I know it sucks to want to get great grades and watch them go down after a bad exam, quiz, or paper. Next time spend a little more time reading the questions and choosing your answer. Review your test or quiz before you turn it in. You sound like you are doing just fine in your classes. I will say if you continue to stress about every little thing it is going to make studying harder and you are probably going to have more test anxiety. I am about half way through the semester and I am just starting to realize this. Continue to work hard and study and you will be just fine!
