I'm a new RN in an ICU. I feel that I need to learn how to perform different procedures, like pulling chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, monitoring and using a ventilation machine, etc. I've been looking for a good ICU procedure text/manual, like the AACN Procedural Manual for Critical Care Nurses, that gives step-by-step instructions. I like AACN's procedure manual, but it has two main draw backs for me; first, it's a little too expensive for the newer edition, and the 2005 edition is still a little pricey, seeing that it may be a little outdated. The second drawback is that it lacks any kind of visuals or online component with interactive media. I'm more of a visual learner. Does anyone know of any reputable text(s) with some kind of multi-media component that would be worth investing in? If so, I would love to know. Thanks for you time.
