Actually we have pumps that you can plug in the secondary set tubing into and it will ask..."run secondary concurrent with primary?". Some people say yes and others no. What is the right way?

OK, just since I have seen it done differently so often, I was wondering what the overall concensous was on this issue. I know that it also depends on whether the pt. is at risk for FVO. However, when you need to run a secondary line(abx, other med), do you run it concurrently with the primary (NS, etc), or pause the primary? The new hospital I am at doesn't have pumps I am used to and I cant see how this could be done using them.

Going off of a previous post I was just wondering what you do in this situation. I was always taught that Lipids can be hung with TPN in the same line as long as it is below the filter. However, in the drug book (the one I was looking at at least) says never do this. Just wondering what the concensous was....

All of the posters have been pretty right on. I just took mine on Saturday and it stopped at 75. Needless to say, I walked out 45 minutes later feeling like I failed miserably. I PASSED. A lot of the drug questions make it so you need to know what would be a undesireable side effect or lab values of the drug. I had A LOT of do you use standard, contact, droplet, or airborne precautions. Had a dig. question, tegretol, rifampin, and other drug questions I don't remember. Only one math question, and 2 select all that apply, one was on the steps of blood administration. It sounds like you are preparing well. I only studied a total of about 15 hours. I am sure you will do fine. Know calcium and potassium lab norms too.

Took my boards and it stopped at 75 questions. I am freaking out and possibly forming an ulcer in the process. Since I took it on Saturday, does anyone know when quick results show up from experience. It seems like most people who stop at 75 pass, even though I know that the number you stop at has nothing hypothetically to do with whether you passed or not. I had a lot of pick the priority patient to see, LOTS of drug questions, and patient confidentiality/isolation precaution questions. I don't know if they were easy or hard. They were HARD to me. I graduated with high distinction and I really don't feel that I did well. I wanted MORE questions!!! Anyone in the same boat? I must have checked the quick results page a hundred times!
